Unigine Valley Benchmark Scores Thread + SUPERPOSITION ***Over 1000 Submissions!***

Jumper118

Are you still scoring super low in Valley?

I haven't benched Valley ever since... but to see people using 2way SLI GTX980s being as high as I'm with 3 cards is ridiculous... and I know that my system runs properly. I'm still #9 in 3D Mark ULTRA worldwide...

Intel i7 7820X (delidded) @ 4.9GHz - MSI X299 M7 ACK + EKWB Fullcover Block - G.Skill Trident Z 32GB @ 3466MHz - nVidia Titan Xp + EKWB Fullcover Block @ 2.1GHz - Samsung 960Pro 2x - WDD Blue 2TB - Seasonic 750W Platinum - modded Corsair 600C - Hardtubed Custom Watercooling

Thats really odd.

Believe me I already did a ton of research about this issue... I can't find an answer :( . I do not have to be the best in every benchmark (without LN2 not possible anyways in 3D Mark ;) as you know), but when scores get that low and everything else is fine... IDK.

If I'd loose a ton of FPS in 4K or 3D Mark would be bad or even Heaven, I would say I probably need to disassemble it all and try to do some clean installs again. But all that is perfectly fine.

Might be OS related? I know it sounds odd but that could be it.

I recall watching Jayz50cents talk about his x99 system on youtube, and how 3 way sli wasn't working until he forced pci-e 3.0 in the bios.

I forgot about that being an issue with X99

@Jumper118 you'll enjoy this one buddy :P

IDK why my VRAM won't OC for shit, it literally crashes above +285 on the mem, so my unigine valley score probably isn't going to improve, even if I can manage to get another 100mhz out of the cores on water, it probably won't change much unless I can overvolt the memory. (Which I don't think I can)

CPU: 4790k @ 4.5 1.235v

GPUS: 970 G1 SLI @ 1552/7590.8

FPS: 111.3

Score: 4656

I'll keep benching tonight and see how far I can get for you jumper :)

Also quick teaser, although it wasn't stable.  One of my cards will OC like a monster, but the other one doesn't seem to like going above 1552.

If SLI wasn't working how would I be able to get such high FPS in 4K and 4K benchmarks? That has nothing to do with that, all other benchmarks show stupid high results.

I'm going to flash an unlocked bios on both cards tomorrow, I think the card that gets to 1600 may actually let me get to 1650 with some tinkering maybe.  *crosses fingers*

(The one that does 1624 won't actually do 1624 stable, and 1600 has a tiny bit of artifacts but no crashing, it does 1580 without issue though)

I need a custom loop and a way to push more than 1.32v, apparently some of the cards are hardware locked to 1.32-1.34 from what I've been seeing on OCN, and people are saying even with 1.4v selected in the bios + afterburner, DMM's still only measure 1.32 from the PCB.

IDK why I can't seem to get above 7600 on the memory though, :/  @Jumper118 pls tell my memory to OC higher, so I can set records for fastest 970 SLI on LTT pls.

my memory is stuck around 1900 as well :/. must just be the ram chips on this revision. the revision with the coil whine has had better ram clocks from what i've seen.

Makes me sad, wonder if I could make up an excuse to RMA both cards to get a newer revision, I need dem records.

It's weird how my old 780's were so much faster in unigine, yet 970's seem to be about the same if not faster than 780's in gaming

Valley doesn't give much opportunity for the latest color compression to do its thing, while in gaming there is ample opportunity, especially if the game has moments where most of the pixels remain the same for a few frames, or even a few hundred.

I hope that the color compression gets implemented sometime in valley. I would love to get higher scores with my card. It seems to overclock pretty well, not as high as 1600+ though, maybe if I get water and unlock it .....

maybe in valley 2.0. they need proper 4k textures in both heaven and valley as well.

its not really part of Valley, its more because there is constant camera movement and lighting effects, and the pixels are all changing color constantly.

*edit*

There are actually 2 parts to the color compression equation:

 - the 1st part is when a group of pixels remain the same color across two or more frames. (like a background that doesn't move)

 - the 2nd part is when you increase frame rate, and a group of pixels will remain the same color across more frames within the same period of time - so doubling the frame rate may not require twice the GPU horsepower.

In theory, the 1st part should have an exponential impact on the 2nd... hence why Maxwell cards are pushing so many frames out for their size and horsepower, except in valley where memory bandwidth is king and color compression is difficult.

Well I'll be crossing my fingers hoping they are even going to do valley 2.0. Although I really can't wait to see what space heaters Amd will be coming out with, might buy one just to see which one i like more then choose from there if I want to xfire or sli.

You still have the bandwidth to run SLI just check what gen the PCI-E slots are reading at.
