Hey serious question.  I was looking through 3DMark's Hall of Fame and noticed that there aren't any Ryzen chips showing up?  What's holding them back in those benchmarks?

Frequency and core count probably... 3dmark can use all available threads AFAIK

the 6950x is faster cos it has 2 more cores :P that is all. if it was still 5960x vs 1800x then they would be neck and neck, the ryzen has the higher physics and combined, but the intel would be higher in the gpu tests because of the clock speed. also there are no ryzen 4 way boards yet, so i would not be able to reach the very top any. :( the lack of 4 way support is bad for me atm.

That's not it.  There are tons of 5960x and 6950x CPUs in there.  I personally think it's due to lack of clockspeed resulting in lower physic scores.

I think so... Ryzen doesn't overclock very well, so a 4.8+GHz 5960X would destroy it ;)

a 4.8ghz anything shouldnt be in the hall of fame lol, the 5960x should be 5.8-6ghz to get top scores. :P

even ryzen does over 5ghz on ln2, i think 5.2-5.4ghz will be the kind of speed for them on ln2.

I'm guessing that's what it would take for it to overcome the lack of ambient overclocking, but I'd say 98% of those 8 core Intel parts in there are running ambient cooling.

Literally, most are ambient cooled.  Sure there are a few LN2 Intel chips in there, but most are chips running in the 4.5 to 4.8 area.

i have no idea then, my ryzen at 4.1ghz is getting the same physics as my 5960x was at 4.75ghz.

maybe people with titan xp and 1080ti like intel more :P

or maybe all the ryzen boards die before the benchmark finishes.

That's odd because your Ryzen at 4.1 was scoring considerably less in CB R15 then your 5960x at 4.8?

i cant bench ryzen at 4.116ghz in cinebench :P its at 4.091ghz i think. maybe firestrike does care about memory speed as much as cinebench. idk

Ryzen's Hyperthreading is very efficient, this is why a 5.4GHz 1600X was able to beat a 6GHz 5820K in multithreaded tests.

I think you ran really low cache speed and really loose timings on that 5960x during those runs.  My 5960x is nowhere near the higher scoring 5960x's in Firestrike Physics, but it was still respectable.

I watched that video this morning.  I wonder what he based his comment on as I'm sure he didn't do any side by side testing to see how much better.  Lol.

Everything I'm seeing is showing 5 to 10% difference between a 1080 Ti and a Titan Xp.  I'm doing the shunt mod this time around and I know a few people couldn't get that to work with the Titan Xp, while one or two other were able to.  So far it's 100% for everyone that's tried it on the 1080 Ti.

I think that'll give me enough to even it out with other guys running on water.

I'm gonna miss it, but I think I'm going to sell it soon before x299 drops.  I'm excited about being able to run x16 + x16 again as it's starting to show some benefits with these higher horsepower GPUs, especially in SLI.  That and I wan't to convert completely over to NVMe M.2 drives attached directly to the motherboard.  With all those PCIe lanes in x299, this should be a breeze.

Well that seems to explain it.  With all those 6950x, 5960x and 6900k throwing out those kinds of Physics scores, there ain't much room left to slide Ryzen scores in there.

Can you imagine what it's going to look like with higher clocking 10 core parts based on Skylake architecture?  I'm not even thinking about what the 12 core will look like.  lol

the other thing to note is most extreme overclockers dont use amd and they dont get valid scores and most people with high end gpu's like titan xp and 1080ti wouldnt buy a budget cpu like ryzen for games if they already have those intel cpu's

Makes sense.  Not to mention that guys who buy 3 or 4 Titan Xp or 1080 Ti GPUs wouldn't be able to run those at one time on a Ryzen platform.
