Still, nice clocks there.

Hope when the 1080Ti finally gets here.  I can get some nice clocks out of it.  Probably first break it in with some good F@H crunching or use PrimeGrid crunching.

yeah i'm looking foreward to that. really curious how that stacks up to your SLI 980Ti's :)

I should try the benchmark out with SLI.  I believe they finally added that into the benchmark.  I tend to disable SLI since, when I do some light gaming, I leave one card folding while I game.

I want to play around with different resolutions and see how they affect the scores. I know that with these benchmarks you can fluff your results and make them look better with lower settings. That said, higher settings were causing my GPU to overheat so anything above that and I need to pull back the overclock and get more air in the case.

It held steady at 83*C which is technically safe, but from my perspective I gained 14*C for an extra 3FPS so it just isn't worth it.

The fans were going at 80% or something and they still sounded like a vacuum cleaner inside my case.

Tested the new Superposition benchmark. I used the "Valley" crossfire profile, which worked well. CPU was at my daily setting, GPUs were pretty much maxed out.

CPU: I7 3970X @4.6 GHz

GPUs: 2x Gigabyte AMD R9 290 (OC) @1210/1625 MHz +100 mV

1080P Extreme preset:

Superpostition_CF_Valleyprofile_OC1210_1625.PNG.ee02e65e8044f949da3505c0aba42468.PNG

4K Optimized preset:

Superpostition_4Kop_CF_Valleyprofile_OC1210_1625.PNG.1efe3da356024943454d095ad33ab8df.PNG

Really crushing benchmark at max settings for older hardware, but I was surprised how well the 4K preset ran (60 fps), given that these 290s only got 4 GB vram.

CPU: Intel i7 3970X @ 4.7 GHz  (custom loop)   RAM: Kingston 1866 MHz 32GB DDR3   GPU(s): 2x Gigabyte R9 290OC (custom loop)   Motherboard: Asus P9X79

Case: Fractal Design R3    Cooling loop:  360 mm + 480 mm + 1080 mm,  tripple 5D Vario pump   Storage: 500 GB + 240 GB + 120 GB SSD,  Seagate 4 TB HDD

PSU: Corsair AX860i   Display(s): Asus PB278Q,  Asus VE247H   Input: QPad 5K,  Logitech G710+    Sound: uDAC3 + Philips Fidelio x2

Bro, that score is awesome. This benchmark seems to love older hardware. I ran 2 290 and my 980ti beats that set up in everything I do. Yet your score crushes mine. Interesting.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

I decided to try and go balls to the walls - so I need 'em power!

The AX860i was holding me back somewhat, so time to connect the other card to my old 1000W PSU B| I also clocked the cpu a tad higher just in case, though I don't know if makes much of a difference in this benchmark.

CPU: I7 3970X @4.8 GHz

GPUs: 2x Gigabyte AMD R9 290 (OC) @1275/1625 MHz +181 mV

The Afterbuner only allows +100 mV overvoltage and Trixx was not working on me, so I used CE to hack a higher voltage offset setting in the Afterburner 9_9 It's stupid silly, but it actually works xD

I was able to make a pass with gpu cores at 1280 MHz, but I got a lot of artifacts and also lower score than with the 1275 MHz. GPUz was reporting VDDC Power In of 370 W per card (while HawaiiBiosReader reports set power limits of 208 W - eeh), but vrms stayed below 75 C. Anyhow, Superposition seems to allow a bit higher overclocks without crashing than other benchmarks.

Time to grace this thread with Tahiti courtesy of my 7950. :P I could have gotten better scores if I pushed the core, but it won't even OC at all so I'm being carried on my VRAM speeds. Fun note: temps never exceeded 67C at 37% fan speed with the TwinFrozr III on this, and my case airflow is crap. :D

Core decided to play ball and it let me push it a good amount in the benches. I can tolerate these scores lmao

Well... I did one last attempt to squeeze the last drops of performance for this benchmark:

CPU: I7 3970X @4.9 GHz

GPU: 1x Gigabyte AMD R9 290 (OC) @1280/1710 MHz +188 mV (CF result in earlier post)

1080P Extreme preset:

GPU: 1x Gigabyte AMD R9 290 (OC) @1255/1650 MHz +144 mV

I like that CF scaling of 198%

That should finally be it for now. I was hitting some sort of power limit, because either rising the voltage or core even tiny bit resulted instant black screen :)

Just for benching? Or replace the 1080s?

Yeah, I'm replacing the 1080s with the 1080 Tis.  The 1080s are going into the x99 rig and I'll run the 1080 Tis on the z270 rig.

As soon as x299 drops, I'll pull the 1080s and install the 1080 Tis along with 1 or 2 more for a total of 3 or 4.  I need to put those 44 PCIe lanes on the new Extreme chip to work.  :D  I'm going absolutely nuts on the upcoming x299 build.

Luckily, I still have all organs.  lol

I've always wanted 4 GPUs in one rig.  The EK 1080 Ti single slot waterblocks are going to make it look ridiculously sexy.  I'll only really run two-way SLI when gaming, but I'll use all 4 when folding or editing.  Skylake X is going to have 44 CPU PCIe lanes + 24 Kaby Lake chipset PCIe lanes.  I've got to at least put half of that shit to work.  xD
