Folding Power of GT 710?

out of curiosity, does someone have and can test, or has already run a GT 710 for Folding@home? What are you getting in terms of points? Would it be possible to throw like 4-5 of them in a server just for fun and have them fold because they are such low wattage (how are they Points/watt compared to something like a 1050?)? How would say 4 of them at like $150 total compare to a single 1050 or something?

I get its not the best path, and Im not looking for suggestions like "A single card is just better, just get that", I'm looking for actual numbers.

I searched around on Google but couldn't find anything helpful. Hopefully someone here has experience with it!

Yes, it's 2871 as in the year 2871. I traveled all this way, back in time, just to help you. And you thought your mama lied when she said you were special-_-

I used a 610 when experimenting with multi cards and it would do like 1200 points a day.  Less than an older Dual core CPU running in the Chrome client. It's not great...

a 710 should be better.  Can you install 1 of them and let it run for a few hours to see what it does?

I'll have to wait, I do want at least one low powered GPU for my server, just started a new job, when I get paid I might pick up a single 710, and if I can get drivers working on Windows server 2016 I'll report back for others to see.

And yeah just the server's CPU's put out 120k points a day, 1200 wouldn't be worthwhile.

I'd love to have a reason to buy 4 GT 710s for fun, but I don't benchmark stuff nor do I have the time to do so. Sorry.

Nah it'll be a waste of everything.

It starts to make sense at xx50 series.

Best performance/Watt usually come from the biggest gpus, like a 1080 or Titan XP.

Gaming HTPC:

R5 5600X - Cryorig C7 - Asus ROG B350-i - EVGA RTX2060KO - 16gb G.Skill Ripjaws V 3333mhz - Corsair SF450 - 500gb 960 EVO - LianLi TU100B

eh, I'm not so inclined for performance/watt, more of price/performance/watt.

Well like I was saying, if you spent your whole budget on the highest possible card, you get the most performance.

For example, 5 gt710s apparently give you 5x1200 ppd for $150. That 6000ppd.

For 150 you could get 2-3 gtx750ti's which each put out ~70k ppd. Meaning 210k if you are lucky.

A used GTX970 on the other hand is also around $150 while pulling 300k ppd.

As you can see, the higher you go the better. Even the step 970 to 980 yields massive improvements even though it's a very similar card. It's like 300k vs 450k ppd.

So again, look at the used market and spent your entire budget on a single card rather than multiple smaller ones.

If it's not in there (it's not) it's probably not worth it.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.
