New info released on the Calyos fanless PCs

6 hours ago, tridy said:

I don't think it is a big price for keeping a gaming PC fanless, because I have a thing - I don't like any spinning parts in computers.

Power consumption should be better in this one.

And i hope this thing will last.

I think the first 100 on kickstarter will be gone pretty fast.

You're right, you're essentially paying the price of a full case and cooling system at once.

1/3 of the first 100 are already taken.

Kickstarter is live:

I'm not gonna buy one myself though.

Silent PC maker Calyos has just announced their NSG S0 case is up for pre-order. Starting price is 470 Euros and customers can select a variety of custom theme to best suit their style.

The case will have cooling capability to handle a Intel Core i7 7700K and a GTX 1080Ti.

Quote

Wednesday 29th will be a great day for Calyos with the launch of a 30 days Kickstarter campaign to propose a pre-order of the NSG S0. Calyos expects that this offer will response positively to the thousands of emails received asking where and when it will be possible to buy one of these Fanless PCs.

-Overkill Dell XPS

Fully maxed out early 2017 Dell XPS 15, GTX 1050 4GB, 7700HQ, 1TB nvme SSD, 32GB RAM, 4k display. 97Whr battery :x
Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.

I didn't know a case and AIO could run you $600+ dollars.

I wonder if some of the poster above this post ever heard about Caylos, its silent cooling capabilities, and Linus had done a few videos about them.

Some of the nitpicking here is ridiulous.

Almost all cooling solutions account for build up. Will it decrease the performance of the heat exchanger? Absolutely. Does it matter that much? Not really because again if you design a heat exchanger without taking build up into account you aren't doing it right. Pipes get way more build up in the form of calcium and they still work well in power plant heat exchangers just fine.

If only I had $600.00 US to spare for a case at the moment...  At least it's near the Kickstarter Goal. Only $3000.00 left to meet that.
