Is this a decent gaming rig?

Im looking for a decent gaming rig to run mostly: 

all of the older call of duty (bo1, WaW)

cs:go

gmod

world of warcraft

maybe some skyrim special edition

 

will this build be good enough? I have around £300-£380 budget

Let's switch the PSU to a better one, and the build looks fine. Don't even think about OCing the Athlon on that motherboard.

 

Don't bother with the 4GB 460, it doesn't have the power to drive settings that require 4GB anyway.

I'd see if you can get the Seasonic G 500w. It shouldn't be much more but is considerably better quality wise.

I'd try and maybe save up a little more for a better GPU, but it should run most of your titles just fine.

Because dual core CPU's have trouble running a lot of games, and a great deal the can't run at all.

why would developers stop coding for 2core processors if intel is still making updated versions

true, he could easily get a i3-6100-i5 6500 or a kaby lake in the future if he wanted. with the a4 hes kind of forced to upgrade almost everything.

What? That makes no sense.

That's like saying there's still leaded gas, so why don't they allow it in cars?

There's simply better things out there. They code for more cores, because most people have more cores.

Intel makes 2 core CPUs, because believe it or not, not everything is developed around gaming.

Yeah but...if he can't play the games he wants now, what's the point?

It'd be better for him to save up for a higher tier Intel CPU, than get something partially unusable now.

Apparently it's more expensive on your side of the pond, but you don't have very many if any quality lower tier power supplies.

The PSU powers everything. It's important to get a decent one. Plus you can move it to your next build no problem.

On the 4400 Skyrim plays around 10-15 fps. It's super notchy, to the point of being unusable.

I believe that's on a lower res monitor, as well. If he wants to play with any kind of mods? He's absolutely SOL.

If he wants to play newer games like The Divison etc they absolutely will NOT run on a dual core CPU. I tried on one of my word processing systems when the game came out. It simply starts with a black screen.

I'm not trying to scare him. I'm informing him of real possibilities.

all of these games will work on a 2core processor. work =/= good fps. they will run the game. skyrim and world of warcraft might not do well, but I don't see how csgo, gmod, and black ops 1 could do terribly.

I probably won't be playing skyrim I've got my PS4 for bigger games I just want to play the ones I can't play on my PS4 with this
