Can't subscribe to floatplane from germany

I've added a new payment method that uses a different PayPal flow (and might require you to manually renew, I'm not quite sure). It's currently only displayed to users in Germany, so if you are having issues with PayPal not allowing you to subscribe, I'd appreciate it if you could try the alternate payment method in the checkout, and let me know if it works.

I wanted to subscribe to the Floatplane Early-Access today but unfortunately I get a message saying that "my PayPal account is registered in a country where automatic payments are not allowed". While this message indicates otherwise, the PayPal support said the vendor has to enable other countries than their own (maybe germany specifically) for subscriptions. I was able to subscribe to Vessel and others like Crunchyroll without any issues in the past so this doesn't seem to be general "ban" on subscriptions for germany.

 

An alternative for those affected would be to offer an option to get a prepaid version of the Floatplane subscription, that should work from germany and other countries where it's currently not possible otherwise.

yeah, same. I'd love to subscribe but i'm in germany too and i'm getting the same error. Very nice idea though

What is a "Floatplane Early-Access"? Googling gives me no results.

Hi,

 

I was subscribed to Vessel just for LMG content and of course wanted to join the floatplane club.

When I tried to pay via PayPal it only says that my Account is registered to a country that is prohibited from

automated payments and that I should choose another form of payment. 

I live in germany, is there a way to fix this problem?

I googled it and PayPal itself suggests that the problem is that the seller doesn't accept automated payments from the country. Paypal allows it :P

I was notified based on that. The mail had been identified as possible phishing, though. Perhaps it was filtered entirely in your case.

Alright, I watched the unlisted videos about what it was...
Why aren't they just putting the videos unlisted on youtube for "early access" instead of making people download them, and then publish them to the public after a week has passed. At least this way their content is protected if someone will just upload the videos on youtube after downloading them... Because that will happen.
