Is it worth it to go 1440p?

I am at 1080P 90hz with my 1070, very happy with it so far, had it for 3 days and it performs excellent, also no bottlenecks which i was told might happen but it's not.

 

So is the jump from 1080P to 1440P really worth it? 4K is far out of my reach i would need so much GPU power just to run games it's just going to hurt my wallet hugely.

What do games do u play?

I'm playing at 2560x1080(ultawide) which almost 1440p and it's a huge difference from 1080p.

If it's 1440p/60hz, then it depends on what games you play the most. If you play CSGO a lot, stay with 144hz for sure. If you play a lot of AAA titles, Witcher 3, deus ex, then 1440p will benefit you more since it makes games absolutely beautiful. 

 

Of course, there's the 1440p/144hz option, but it's not cheap.

1440p is amazing, it makes a huge difference. I recommend pixio px277. I have a qnix qx2710 and its ptretty good at 96hz with my gtx 970

@Soundsystem90, I'm not joking, it really still looks good even though it was introduced years ago.

I went from 24" 1080p, to 25" 1440p, to 28" 4k and now I am on 29" ultrawide and i for me personally the bigger pixel density did not so too much. Yes 4k was noticeably sharper, but when I am really on the game....I don't feel the difference anymore. Ultrawide however as a form factor opposed to resolution was a game changer for me. Immersion is much better with the wider display.

However if you want a bigger display, definitely get 1440p or higher for me the sweet spots are basically up to 24": 1080p, from 25-27" and probably even a bit bigger like 28-30": 1440p, anything above that size: 4k. 

 

I mean this is my subjective view and I found out by swapping hardware, meaning displays, like an idiot. ;-)

 

Edit: I forgot to say that if I were you, I would get a nice 34" 3440x1440p display. Unfortunately I don't have the horsepower in my PC and funds to make it happen myself, but with those displays, all you see is the game and you get so immersed.
