i think ill be running the PSU untill it dies .... at least thats what i do to my HDDs xD

but yeah i see what you mean ... i was thinking about getting the 550w then the 750w is less than 15 euros more ...  now i want to get the 750w ... since my current one is also 750w xD (my current one will sit in the parts bin for when i build a 2nd pc with my pentium :D ) but i wouldnt get an 850w ... that would be too much for the hardware i ever plan to run ... even the 750w might be

yep, its better to go for the 750 watt psu, you have more upgrading room without power issues. i myself are using a 750 watt psu in my system, overkill ik but at least i can upgrade all i want without power issues.

So im going to be upgrading my PC and wanted a new PSU since my current one i around 5 or 6 years old (i think, not sure)

so my current option is the Corsair RM550x (click it to see the site i would buy it from and the price)

EDIT: i found that the RM650x is at near enough the same price will be getting that instead

I will be running a overclocked 4790K and for now a single GTX 960 2gb maybe down the line ill get a 1070 or one from the future generation or get another 960 to SLI them

so i think 550W should do fine for me (the SLI might need a 600W one?)

and i would love an 80+ platinum but they are bit out of my price range atm and i dont think that it will be worth it for the efficiency so 80+Gold is what im going with

I would like to hear your opinions on what PSU i should get

It's a good PSU. I'm not too sure what the PSU market is like in Latvia but in Canada/US there isn't a big price gap between the 500-650 watt range so if you're even considering future SLI, go for a 650W.

The RM550x is a good unit. Check this list to see where it stands with the competition

It's an excellent power supply.

I'd advise not SLI'ing your GTX 960s in the future and simply get a single stronger card (like the GTX 1070) instead.

Be nice to each other boys and girls. And don't cheap out on a power supply.

Bit pricey but a good unit, though since you live in eastern Europe the price factor may not apply

Yeah pricing can be very odd at times, I'd grab that one for sure

Well you have to draw the line somewhere. At the end of the day, having a higher wattage PSU will not hurt you. In some cases it may actually be better since since the PSU may run more efficiently at mid-low loads, but this is something that varies unit to unit. I know that I'd personally go for the higher wattage for such a small price difference. It will even be easier to sell later if you ever decided to do so.

I was gonna get the 650 as met the requirements I needed. Ended up with the an 850 refurbished unit at the same price. I couldn't get a 550 or 600 as they didn't have the amperage needed. The 850 will barely handle it if I sli this rig. More is better, especially at the small price gap.

if i could get a refurbished unit here then i would think about the 850 .. .but atm i have no need for it .. at all... also the price gap to the 750 is big enough for me to think about
