[WIP] Snef's Sand of God

Snef

Hey Snef, with the thermal armor: Did you sand it down or prime it or do anything before applying the white rust-oleum paint, or just sprayed it? And did you clear coat it after or just left it as-is?

Also, how well did the back piece fit in the case? It looks flush with the tray, is it a perfect fit or did you have to leave the screws a bit loose to accommodate it?

Curious about all this because I'm also doing a build in an S5 (I asked you a couple BitFenix Recon questions via PM a few weeks ago) and already have the thermal armor ordered, just curious what to expect when it gets here.

clean the armor with 99% alcohol, no sanding, need to keep texture pattern, use 3m green scratch pad, use 2 layer of primer and 2 layer of mat white, it look like it made of white plastic, I don't like gloss finish for computer parts, only for the case

and the MB backplate fit perfectly, no mod

I wouldn't sand it as it has a texture but rather use self etching primer and paint it whatever color you want and I would personally clear coat it unless you want a flat black or something.

im not a expert in painting but self etching primer is not for aluminum or metal?

Looks so good

thanks

Love this build, how long did all that sleeving that though not sure if I would have the patience to do that haha

Thanks

its the longest part of this build

I don't remember how much but its a lot of hours

I think this is what you're looking for.

Yes it is. Tss @Snef never read the manual do you? Well here is why you should've! So yes, when you press that button the fans spin up and the clocks go up as well!

I'll be honest here, but that is kinda a waste of money to make that button on a card. But still kinda cool I suppose.

It's looking beautiful as always Snef... I think we need a system in place to say when you plan to finish your builds so anyone hoping for builds of the week waits to put theirs up. xD It's looking great though!

Wowwww, those night shots. I love the feet! Will you attempt to clean those capacitors to get rid of the blue? I know you tried it on the other one, but did not go away to good yet. Anyway, looks amazing!

I would not mind to place my build as done same time as Snef, he deserves to be in the builds of the week with everything he makes. But I don't think he would like to be in there without much challenge? Heck, he even said earlier that he doesn't think he can make it again because there are so many amazing builds here.

Nice music, do like it! I absolutely love the HoF mascot in there.

I do wish that those blue capacitors could be .. not blue! And maybe would've been awesome if those feets could be yellow LEDs (I tought they were?)

Aside from that, it looks class!
