32 Core, 64GB's of RAM Workstation

Hey guys, my rig is currently "complete" and I just wanted to show it off to you guys.

DSC_0106.jpg

It features the following:

  • 2x Xeon E5-2670's
  • 2x Noctua 4U CPU Coolers
  • 4x 90MM Noctua NF-B9 PWM's
  • 2x 120MM Noctua NF-F12's
  • Intel S2600CP4 Server Motherboard
  • 16x 4GB's Samsung DDR3 ECC 1066Mhz RAM
  • EVGA Geforce GTX 1060 6GB ACX 2.0 Single Fan
  • EVGA 850 B2 Power Supply
  • 240GB OCZ Trion 150 SSD
  • 1TB Western Digital Blue
  • Rosewill 4 Port USB 3.0 PCI-E Card
  • C-MEDIA 5.1 Sound Card
  • Rosewill RSV-R4000 EATX Server Chassis

This build absolutely destroys every game I throw at it at 1080p, and even some games at 4k. Pretty dope.

Why so much CPU horsepower with a comparatively weak GPU.

I render a lot of videos and do a lot of 3D modeling so the extra CPU cores are really helpful, also because this build is super budget- with the core system coming in just under $1000. Also the 1060 is super powerful :P

Not everyone needs lots of GPU horsepower in their workstation.

wat?  Really?  I didn't know that was even a speed you can get... and why so slow?

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Sorry, meant 1066 and because it's super cheap and faster RAM doesn't seem to give a huge performance increase for my needs.

Yeah I paid something like $80 for 64GB's of RAM. The first time I bought 8GB's of RAM from corsair a few years ago it was $85 lol.

thats dirt cheap for 64GB of ECC RAM lol

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

You caught me, fun fact- GTA 5 refused to run last night because of too many cores- so I had to change some settings in task manager to make it use less cores lol.
