25 inch ultra wide monitors are very very small. For 2560x1080 I would say 29 inches is a good sweet spot and 34+ for 3440x1440

A 25in 2560x1080 would be similar in size to a 20in 1920x1080.

As far as vertical screen space goes:

  • 16.5in 4:3 is approximately the same as 20in 16:9 is approximately the same as 25in ultrawide (all are ~9.8in vertical)
  • 19in 4:3 is approximately the same as "24in" (23.6in) 16:9 is approximately the same as 29in ultrawide (all are ~11.4in vertical)

For comparison, a 1920x1080 23.6in has a pixel density of around 91ppi.  A 29in sounds like it will be huge, since the jump from a 24in class 1080p to a 27 is pretty huge, but for 2560x1080 it's actually almost exactly the same size vertically (a quarter inch smaller or so), and around 6 inches wider.  Pixel density of the LG 29um67 (my most likely purchase since I can't currently justify the price jump to 1440p/IPS/Freesync/21:9) is around 95ppi, so there is pretty much no situation that it would look "worse" than my current 24in 1920x1080 (aside from my Samsung possibly having a slower-but-prettier panel).

I was looking to get this monitor

however some people were saying that this monitor may have problems at 2560x1080

i know nothing about monitors and just thought that this ultrawide monitor looked good for the price.

Thanks,

Ish

Pls don't buy a 25" Ultra wide...

You are better of with a normal 24" FHD.

Ultra wide starts to make sense at 29" but best at 34" and larger.

EDIT:

Here is to prove my point.

yea but you dont get the resolution. For me, I'd gladly go with 25in UW over a 24in 16:9 because of the res, even thought 25in is small for an UW. Depends on what you want from a monitor I guess

Yeah ofc but if res is a big factor for you you could just aswell get a 1440p 24/25/27". This would be the MUCH better option.

I'd suggest that OP go take a look at a similar sized 25" 21:9 monitor, IF the height issue doesn't bother you, then just get it. I've not seen a 25" 21:9 monitor myself, seems like only the 29" and 34" version are available in the local tech mall. I've recently switched to 21:9 monitors myself, I have an AOC Q2963PM and Acer XR341CK, and I'll never go back to 16:9 ever again.....but then, my focus has shifted from pure gaming to multimedia + some gaming. Getting older, so while I do play games, it's not like a few years ago when I'd rush out to get the latest and greatest games available. Perhaps for someone whose primary focus is gaming, then a high refresh rate 16:9 Freesync/Gsync monitor would be better.

Yeah 29 inch 2560x1080 monitors are much better. You can still find them pretty cheap
