What are your thoughts on the Nintendo Switch?

Pretty cool. I won't be buying one, but multiplayer on the go is really appealing, especially without having to get extra controllers. Nintendo still really needs to catch up on graphics though, as the Wii U was barely more powerful than a PS3 and the Switch, from the video, doesn't seem much better.

Since it's powered by an Nvidia Tegra chip I'd say it probably as the same capabilities as the xbox one and ps4.

I'll be upgrading all WiiU's with the Switch when it comes out. I'm glad that they're going with the cartridges rather than the slow-ass discs of the competitors.

A Tegra is a phone or tablet-grade APU-style solution. Not similar to current-gen mainstream consoles. Nintendo is more arcadey anyway so it shouldn't matter (hopefully)

I think its an interesting concept. Not entirely sold. I have questions concerning performance and features. Plus we need to know the price and how it will compare to MS and Sony. Then there is the games library. Id like to see if they can pull it off.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

I really can't wait for the console/handheld to come out.  Especially if they get their heavier hitter titles out on it.

The whole thing of picking up and going is just sweet to me.  I tend to like being able to play games on the go.  Whole reason my 3DS probably sees more hours on it then the PC or consoles I have.

Though, the biggest thing will be what are all the features the device will have.  If they can smack touchscreen, gyro, etc. in it.  I can see a wide range of games being made for the Switch.

I think Nintendo needed an actual powerful console that can compete.  They will be going up against the Scorpio and PS4 Pro this time around, and at best, their console is barely as powerful as an Xbox One and PS4.  Nintendo dropped the ball again.  They need a powerful console that is meant to just game, no gimmicks, to draw in that hardcore crowd again.  The trailer actually made it looks like they'll at least attempt this, this generation... but we were told the same thing with the Wii U.

I'm holding my breath to see what they actually deliver until then.  But a lot of my views on this align similar to what ReviewTechUSA says about Nintendo and needing a powerful console.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

Power means nothing when your developers can't program worth a damn. Nintendo approves every [first and second-party] game and ensures that the games are up to standard.

If Nintendo's track record is anything to go by, they'll be the only ones hitting 1080@60. Again.

The average consumer doesn't care about that.  If you have developers, let's say Activision, not wanting to develop for it because, "it's underpowered."  You've lost third party support.  Nintendo should be fighting for all the third party support it can get.

People care about the Call of Dutys, the Battlefields, the Assassins Creeds, the Maddens, the MLBs, the 2KXXs.

The Wii U is proof of this.  It's had almost no third party support and it's selling worse than the GameCube did.

Also, Nintendo approving every game to ensure standards is kind of bullshit.  Look at the load that Sonic Boom was on the Wii U, for example.

I'm just going to wait a few years for them to release a special edition version, I only want it to add it to my Nintendo collection. I personally will continue to purchase Nintendo products for my kid to enjoy, oh and Pokémon.

PS4 can actually read blu rays rather fast, and games install while the game loads.  Relatively speaking, I have no complaints.

That said, I still agree -- I'm totally down for carts.

We have a Wii U, and it'll probably still remain connected when we inevitably get a Switch on launch. I'm totally jazzed.

We don't disagree.

The only thing that was confusing at first was that it sort of sounded like it was stated that Nintendo approves ALL games.  I could be alone in that interpretation... but whatevs -- it doesn't matter because that's not what was meant.

I fixed that in my post. Nintendo approves and seems to be strict about quality for any contracted work.
