CPU FAN Troubles :/

Turbofreak88884444
Go to solution Solved by Turbofreak88884444,

Ok i bought a new heat-sink and fan and its on the way so the problem is solved.

Hello my name is Turbofreak and well today I encountered a problem,

My CPU fan decided to stop working properly as in it wants to work but im getting the dreaded Twitching from it it. now the computer itself is 2 years old and I had no serious problems or malfunctions with it until today now. It has been cleaned from dust and pet hair around 2 weeks ago and its still giving me trouble. I am planning on getting a new cooling setup for it asap as I have to do some pretty serious calculations for homework that is due by the end of this week :/ however, my budget is severely limited to no more than 35.00$ that I can spend on this problem.

And I usually go with the motto "if it aint broke don't fix it". Now at this point I am looking for an new AIR cooler. my only gripe about some specific air coolers is that you have to take the heat sink of just to change out the ram and I don't want to do that not yet. what I'm trying to cool is am AMD FX 4300 rated at 3.8GHz which is also an AM3+ socket. and I'm also using an Thermaltake commando MS-I Mid tower so there are some limitations on how big I can go.

I've been doing some digging around Newegg and amazon and i found a  Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan. but at the same time im also open to suggestions to what else I can get for cheap.

anyway thank you for your time reading this and hope to see you guys soon,

Sincerely,

Turbofreak

*UPDATE* for those of you who got a little bit confused on what I got for cpu and case here ya go xD

CPU: AMD FX 4300 3.8 GHz

CPU COOLER: Stock

CASE: Thermaltake commando MS-I Mid tower

TOWER SIZE: mid

Buy the EVO, there is a reason why it is so popular.

I would, like you said, go with the Hyper 212 Evo or 212X.

I use the 212X on my i7 6700K @ 4.5GHz, and it's surprisingly good for its Price.

Main PC: R7 3700X / Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro Wifi / Radeon RX 5700 XT / 32GB DDR4-3200 / 250GB & 2TB Crucial MX500 (in HP Prodesk 400 Case)

Laptop: R5 2500U / Radeon Vega 8 / 8GB DDR4-2400 / 500GB SK Hynix BC501 (HP Envy x360 13)

My little Server: i7-7700 / Asrock H110M-ITX / 24GB DDR4-2400 / Samsung 860 Pro 250GB & Seagate Firecuda 2TB / VMware ESXi 6.7

(Don't tell me i should Name them, i don't want to ^^)

Yeah, because people keep unconditionally recommending it. It's actually a pretty subpar cooler these days.

Something like a Arctic I32 is miles ahead, and it has a 0dB mode.

Other units like the Scythe Fuma are also way ahead. The best performance to dollar is the NH-U14S at the moment.

Are you using the stock cooler?

Where are you shopping/located?

The 212 Evo works just fine but there may be better alternatives available.

Have you tried contacting AMD for a cooler replacement? You might even be able to get the new Wraith cooler.

apparently my warranty expired so that option is out :/

In that case, you do have to buy a new cooler.

The m9a is a cheaper alternative: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/Gqp323/cryorig-cpu-cooler-m9a

If you don't mind spending more, you can go for the quieter Pure Rock: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/cwPzK8/be-quiet-cpu-cooler-bk009

I will look into that first option but that second option looks a little to big to fit my case xD as I am running a mid tower

im also looking into this as well http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16835103107

The Pure Rock fits just fine--it's shorter than the 212 Evo.

The m9a is substantially better than the T2 and not much more.

If you need cheap the GAMMAXX 200T and 300 are pretty cheap and have very good value for money and should have no issue cooling your CPU. The 300 is the better of the two but more expensive as well. If you have an overclock then the 300 may be the way to go. My CPU dissipates 255W at max load and the 300 can still keep it under 70* in real world applications it never gets over 60* The 200T is what you use to get bye with low noise until you can get something better.

If you need cooling now you can pull the fan off your CPU, leave the side panel off and have a box fan or something blowing right into the case at close range just to get some air moving over the CPU cooler.

Intel Xeon 1650 V0 (4.4GHz @1.4V), ASRock X79 Extreme6, 32GB of HyperX 1866, Sapphire Nitro+ 5700XT, Silverstone Redline (black) RL05BB-W, Crucial MX500 500GB SSD, TeamGroup GX2 512GB SSD, WD AV-25 1TB 2.5" HDD with generic Chinese 120GB SSD as cache, x2 Seagate 2TB SSHD(RAID 0) with generic Chinese 240GB SSD as cache, SeaSonic Focus Plus Gold 850, x2 Acer H236HL, Acer V277U be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4, Logitech K120, Tecknet "Gaming" mouse, Creative Inspire T2900, HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless headset, Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

As it stands for now I will not be overclocking my cpu for the moment.
