Whilist I myself am gay if I ever did adopt with my future partner, I would be fine if our kid watched porn. Would just assure him that it's not real and that he should use contraceptives and ensure two things that the person he's doing it with can legally consent and that they do give you consent. Good thing I don't live in the UK though, unfortunately I could see the US doing something similar.

Yeah, I wouldn't say porn is exactly educating.

Honestly, this isn't really that bad of an idea on paper.  However, I just do not see how this can be enforced.  Sure the popular porn sites might adopt this requirement to enter your Id number, but there will be many sites that will slip through the cracks.  Even if the UK somehow manages to enforce this on every porn site on the internet, there will be ways to get around those rules, like VPNs (Tunnelbear anyone?), or scripts that can be used to bypass the id access page.  I doubt the police in the UK will barge into someones house and arrest people for viewing porn without an ID.  If someone wants to have a wank, they will find a means of doing it.  

 

The best solution is to educate kids on what sex is so that if they do end up viewing porn, they know not to imitate it.  And if you really want to prevent kids/teenagers from viewing it for awhile, tell them that these sites are dangerous and will break their computer.  I am not going to go into the whole argument of when is the best time to teach kids/teenagers this sort of stuff, I am just saying that at some point, they should learn what it is and how to do it safely.

The government will have access to that database.  Given how governments around the world have a track record of abusing gathered data to discredit and silence dissenters, this is real bad for any whistleblower or political opponent.  I can think of no better way to defame a person than telling people what kind of porn the person watches.

There is nothing unrealistic about porn, in my experience. the sex I've had and the people I've done it with are accurate & excellently portrayed by hardcore porn.

Speaking personally, when I have sex I don't have fluffers to get me going, I don't have some guy telling me to stick what where, a lost erection isn't something that can be edited out and if anyone is getting choked during sex it going to be me damn it! It has the basic mechanics in place but it's like equating a movie car chase with a blast down your favourite country roads.

 

If you really want to learn about sex find yourself an older lady, they'll teach you far more than you could ever learn from porn.

 

And back to the original topic; This sniffs very strongly of people coming up with proposals with no idea if it's possible to implement and at what cost. This will never, ever get implemented as it would cost way too much and would almost certainly prove ineffective, panic not, young wankers.

Abstinence to reduce the risk of unwanted pregnancy is like cutting off your own legs to reduce the risk of foot fungus.

Quite true, I think the problem with abstinence based sex ed is that it ignores that it'll happen regardless and doesn't try to approach both sides. Yeah, contraceptives aren't 100% but if your partner is the opposite sex as you, and you both desire to have intercourse then to prevent unwanted pregnancy a contraceptive is an effective way of preventing that.

 

 

Still the idea of a Porn Viewing ID is dumb and invasive.
