£500 Build - Need Recommended specs

Hello,

So my friend is planning on building his first pc.

He has a budget of £500, although he has an extra £50 which he can spend, but he only wants to spend this if need be.

He needs almost everything but a headset,mouse and a cooler for his cpu, he currently has a hyper 212 exo he can use.

So he needs a Keyboard, Monitor and obviously a computer.

Can anyone here recommend the best specs to get for his buck? Also I would prefer places from the UK so shipping does get out of hand quickly, and custom taxes!

Will an I3 still run well for newish games? Like JC3, GTA?

Yes it has hyper threading. You can't go more for i5 since your budget is like reaching the top.

The i3? Yeah. It's the 460 that's more likely to hold you back.

There is nothing I can do. I didn't even able to fit a case unless go for non IPS monitor cheaper

As long as the old system and new system are both 64x bit then yes, old key will work perfectly. I've reused my same windows key I bought from a shady website for half price many times now lol, I've even had it running on two computers at the same time

You can get an fx cpu like fx 8350 but it;s old and not fast enough as modern i3 6100

A lot of people just don't like AMD cpu's in general, I'm not sure if it's just a bias or if there is good reason. I have not seen any good reasons myself, yet. For the low end price range, to me at-least, AMD seems like the far better choice. My FX 6350 worked really well for me for a long time, I'm using an i7 6700k now, though

I can agree on this lol, I happen to have an AMD FX 8350 CPU and an ASUS M5A78L/USB-3 blue motherboard in my current rig that I've had since 2013.

 

Wish I took the 2500k Intel rig instead :/ RIP Me. Oh well.

 

CPU does alright but not as good as what an Intel CPU would do for Gaming.

I have a 2500k. My brother got it when It came out and I still use it to this day! I love it. Might upgrade this year but comparing to other cpu's I dont see the point at the moment.

Wish I took the Intel rig back in 2013 :( RIP Me.

Hope to upgrade soon. Though I plan to upgrade some other components first such as my Monitors/Keyboard/Mouse etc... ^_^
