Also the cpu block he was talked about is marked, but if you have a crappy monitor it's almost not noticeable.

So a clearer way to mark the graph about the product he is talking about would be nice :P

 

Anyway, they should have pushed the system harder so the gap widens a bit more. But that's just what i would do.

As an owner of both an original Cathar/Little River White Water and Storm, this was the singularly most interesting and useful video LMG has probably ever produced. :)

 

Though, to be honest, it has me contemplating fixing the Storm up with a modern mounting plate (ghetto-mounting it works on 115x boards) rather than investing in a new block despite the performance advances.

 

Ah, watercooling, so useless, so fun, so annoyingly noisy. :x

Totally get how that may have been confusing. If you're ever in doubt, check the beginning of the video for "Sponsored by X" text and the description for the same. We always aim to follow proper disclosure policies when a video is sponsored by a brand.

You could do laptop GPUs through the years. Now with desktop grade stuff it would be impressive compared to mobile version of things and cooling wise

So, just out of curiosity, what is the difference then?  If Video X is "sponsored by" Company A, while Video Y is not sponsored, but the content of the video shows you guys working exclusively with products from Company A that (presumably) Company A paid for?

If there is payment involved the video is sponsored. If not, then it isn't.

 

There was no payment from Swiftech involved in creating this video. All we're making here is ad revenue (from AdSense and the Massdrop spot within the content).

Sure, it would be great to utilize blocks from a number of manufacturers and test how they have changed comparatively over the years, but that is extremely prohibitive from a time perspective. It also makes the arc of the video difficult as you'll be doubling back more and more when comparing within the brand as well as between brands.

 

Something that utilized many different brands would probably be better served as a written piece. Using only a single brand in this case provides a more cohesive flow to the video.

 

A piece like this isn't meant to be a be-all and end-all of water cooling performance testing for the past 10 years. It's to show how the component has evolved, and how they've adapted to changes in CPUs.


I've found that people tend to read way too much into what brands/products are used in non-sponsored pieces like this... more often than not it's all about ease of access (I would assume it would be rather difficult for some brands to find a new unit of a 10-year old block, which may have limited the choices we had when it comes to brands in this case) rather than some nefarious bias (as is usually implied by commenters).

As has been determined in the past LTT more often than not did not mark videos with the sponsor details, its why the Candian ASA investigated you for it and updated their rules, because you specifically as a company made them. You can't go claiming the high road now having spent years rolling around in the mud.

 

Its a bit weird to be only talking to Swiftech for this topic considering others have held the crown in top performance over this time period, no one else responded to your call for products to test? Not one?

I like this new series a lot. I'm always about numbers and percentages and this was very interesting to watch. 

And please, don't use the same highlighting in the videos that are to come, very hard to notice, I noticed it on 3rd block.

Nope not at all, I just try to use replies as a way to answer questions that people asked specifically in addition to other questions that I've seen in comments etc.

 

The blocks WERE given by the company, but that =/= sponsorship. Sponsorship is $$$, parts are just a facilitator for a piece of content.
