I just think if i change to a bigger monitor my card wont be virtually scalling to a 1080p resolution.which it naturally supports?

About dota2, at my current setting w/ the 1080p resolution i think i got 40-58 ish fps and w/o dropping to 10.. its not yet confirmed to be ok cause i just tested it with AI or bots and not with real ingame

if your screen is not 1080p, yes you can change it but no, the video card will not work less

dota 2 : you're not alone : https://steamcommunity.com/app/570/discussions/0/492378806375807169/

if 1920x1080 is worse than 1600x900, then lower configuration. If min config at 1080 is still worse, go back to 1600x900, but keep in mind this issue is only with dota 2

Hi Al,

Currently i am having a difficulty to stabilize my FPS while playing.

FPS drop occurs randomly it started from 70 -80 then randomly drops to 10 FPS.

hope some one can help me.

thanks in advance

Have you checked your temperatures on the CPU or the GPU?

is that max or average ? 78°C seems REAAALLLY hot in game. Did you overclock ? what is your CPU cooler ?

also, does it do it with all your games or specific one(s) ?

I had this same problem. My issue was I had an Xbox one controller connected. If you have one connected, disconnect it and see if it stops. If so the you must find the right driver for it.

Can you monitor CPU clocks while in game?

the fps drop occurs in a specific game or in all games ?

I would bet it has to do with the CPU temp, which is normal regarding CPU model, your city temperature and the (good but not best) cooler.

instead of buying a new CPU cooler you could try to use a new thermal paste such as GELID

the fps drop usually occurs when playing DoTA2. I already replaced my thermal paste

if it's only in DOTA2 then it's not a hardware problem but a software problem. Check drivers of games options
