What brand of 1080s are you using which have single slot IO?

All 7 will be cut with a heavy duty rotary 10 000 RPM cutter :)

Ohhhh I was considdering that display, but went for the acer preadator XB321hk as I wanted something with Gsync.

 

Looking forward to see the build man. Did you ever finish the 7 x 980ti build?

Yes - I have. Actually I did 3 of them :) But have had not time so far to post details. Being honest I am very busy lately but will find some time to get you guys many details from the build log :)

Have you considdered making a massive external radiator / pump setup so that you do not need to put individual watercooling in each case you have? How many machines like this do you have running at a time?

All is internal, in one case due to space requirement on 3x 480 rads. On a 15A circuit you may have up to 2 machines at a time but I am putting them on 20A circuit to avoide tripping a breaker or separate 15A. And some of them are no longer mine but sent to some CG studios. Yes - I thought about external solutions - heat dissipation is massive so an air-conditioned room is a must during summer days. I am still preparing for a custom case for 20 GPUs... :)

You should compare it to the dude on the forum who has I think either 7 or 8 980tis for octane as well. We will see if the extra cuda cores which would add up on 7 cards makes a noticeable difference

Recently we got notified on Octane forum that 1080 may score even 170 and new Titan X 200. So with 7 I'm aiming at 1200 score.
