The only non doubling of 4 we'll see in monitors is Apple's attempts at oneupmanship(and companies following their example). I don't see 5 or 6k being bought enough to make them popular.

1440p is to 720p as 4K is to 1080p ;) 

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

I thought 1440p is to 4k as 1680x1050 is to 1080p

6k will probably be skipped for 8k

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...
