I had a HP 550 Laptop that I got as a Christmas present, I used it for like 3-4 years solid, constantly on it and then it ended up melting on my lap for some reason and shorted out haha - Picture here

I also purchased my first PC when I was 11-12 years old. Me and some friends wanted to get into PC gaming as we played games like runescape and other games like that - picture here

The PC cost me around £300-£350 if I remember correctly, Even though I did some small upgrades to it, new CPU fan, rear exhaust fan etc haha. I also got given an ATI 5550 Graphics card for free from one of my friends' parents that worked in IT as he had some spare components.

Old PC specs:

Intel Celeron

4GB Ram

250GB Western Digital Caviar Blue HDD

ATI 5550 Graphics Card

Cooler Master CPU Cooler (Can't remember what one now haha just remember it cost me around £50)

Asus motherboard

It ran solid for around 2-3 years, then I built this one I'm now :D

My first real build was;

Gigabyte Motherboard, of model I cannot remember, but it was a pretty solid motherboard with SLI etc..

Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4GHz

2GB Geil DDR2 800MHz

XFX Nvidia 8800GTS 640MB Overclocked

800W Super Flower PSU (of which is still going strong in my current PC)

Coolermaster Air Cooler

Seagate 250GB

Seagate 160GB

Antec 900 (upgraded to an Antec 902 a few years later when my mate wanted to unload it for $50)

Creative Soundblaster Soundcard

Razer Lycosa Keyboard

Razer Lachesis Mouse

19" LG 1440x900 monitor

I got it off a mate after he had it for about 6 months, he initially paid around $2,400 for it but I got it off him for $1,000

I loved that PC I was so sad when it died on me ~4 years ago. I think I still have the graphics card, which is completely dead, it ran most modern games up until 2011 on high settings without an issue, which is why I ended up staying with Nvidia on my follow up & current build.

Prior to that Core 2 Duo, I had 3 AMD builds and an Intel Pentium 4.

Case: Ncase M1 V5 Black CPU: Intel Core i5 12600 MB: AORUS Z690i RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX DDR4 SSD: WD SN770 500GB | WD SN750 250GB

Cooler: Noctua NH-L9x65 GPU: EVGA RTX 3070 XC3 Ultra 8GB PSU: Corsair SF600 80+ Platinum Fans: Noctua NF-F12x 2 | Noctua NF-A9x14

Core i5 750 (I still have that CPU, I just cannot find a motherboard for it that isn't ridiculously expensive)

Gigabyte P55M-UD2 (Awesome motherboard, less than £100 and could hang there with the big guys when it came to overclocking, shame it was that awful blue colour though)

2x1GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer Blue (DDR3 hadn't been out that long, this was when you could still get motherboards with DDR2 slots as well as DDR3, and even a single 2GB stick was over £120 back then)

Sapphire ATi HD5750 1GB

WD Caviar Blue 500GB (No SSD back then, a 32GB SSD was the same price as a 256GB SSD is today if I remember rightly)

600W Cooler Master Silent Pro

In an old no brand mATX case from my mums old PC.

CPU: Core i5 2500K @ 4.5GHz | MB: Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P | RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX @ 1866MHz | GPU: XFX DD R9 390 | Case: Fractal Design Define S | Storage: 500GB Samsung 850 EVO + WD Caviar Blue 500GB | PSU: Corsair RM650x | Soundcard: Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium

Hey, I thought it would be neat to see what your first PC build was like. Pictures would be cool too.

All right so, I built my first PC in 2012. Not that long ago but I've just never had enough money. I was finally able to save up $500 from my birthday and Christmas. This build was done with NCIX parts, they were out of stock on a lot of the things I wanted; however, I couldn't wait and bought some not-so-great alternative. Most notably my PSU.

First PC Specifications

CPU: AMD FX-8320.

Motherboard: Gigabyte-not-sure-of #themodelnumber.

RAM: Kingston 8GB black.

GPU: MSI R7770.

HDD: 500GB Seagate barracuda.

PSU: Thermaltake T2 750W.

Case: Bitfenix Mid-tower black no side window with a nice feeling power button.

The total was about $520.

I was going to go with an i5 BUT I would have had to of gotten an mATX motherboard with a small case plus a cheaper GPU. I didn't like small computers at the time. The 8320 caught my eye when I was in the store, got it on sale for only $100 which was a great deal. I still have that 8320 in my main rig.

My PC has evolved slowly over time with mini upgrades. Recently I decided to try out watercooling for the first time, since I'm such a badass I went straight to hardline. You could argue my watercooling was a waste with my current specs but whatever, it works great and looks killer. I wanted to be different and give myself a challenge.

Latest Specifications

CPU: AMD FX-8320 @4.8Ghz.

Motherboard: ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0.

RAM: Kingstin 8GB black.

GPU: MSI GTX 760 x2 in SLI.

SSD: 120 SP.

SSHD: 2TB Seagate.

HDD: 500GB Seagate barracuda.

PSU: EVGA G2 850W.

Case: Phanteks Enthoo Luxe.

Here is a picture of my current PC, sadly I didn't get any from my first. I plan on rebuilding it though with the same parts and giving it to my brother.

My current PC specs

CPU: i5-4690k

GFX: R9 280x

Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro

PSU: Rosewell Hive

RAM: G. Skill Ripjaw Z

Storage: 32GB SSD + 1TB HDD

Motherboard: MSI something or another

I think I spent about 1000-1200. I can't quite remember because I had other expenses like OS, monitor, keyboard and shit.

Knowledge is power, guard it well.
