I bet that hard drive was plugged into a scsi card , I remember they had 3 cables 2 ribbon for data and 1 power , the floppy disk run off the same card :o  BIOS came on a floppy disc. now pc's are pretty much like LEGO plug and play  5 1/4 in hard disks Seagate were still making them that size for years, up to 6gb versions were the last 5 1/4 hard disks I remember.

We bought a PC very late, so I was already 10 years old and it still works, with a few minor problems xD.

AMD Athlon single core 1.9GHz something-or-other (Socket A)

256MB RAM, upgraded to 768MB

nVidia Geforce FX 5200 (VGA)

120GB WD HDD

a floppy disk drive CD-Drive and CD-RW drive, upgraded to DVDRW

crappy no-name brand 320W PSU (I ended up pulling that out for testing fans and stuff when it failed to handle the load and replaced it with another crappy 500W PSU)

All that shoved in a crappy Scan case with a removable mobo tray

Running Win7

It was really nothing special but it lasted us some 5 years through a lot of GTA3/VC/SA, AoE II etc. and a lot of school work.

Oh boy, I bought an epicly overpriced dell;

HD 5450

750GB Sata 2 Seagate HDD

6 Gigs of samsung RAM @ 1033MHZ

Phenom II X6 1035T (overclocked it to about 3.4Ghz on stock volts though 1.135 once i rebuilt the PC)

460 Watt PSU (generic)

Generic Dell Mobo

Windows 7 Home premium

And that pretty much somes it up, that PC and a 20 inch 1080p monitor costed me a grand :(. If only i trusted my self enough to build a PC sooner lol. This was about 4 years ago

I want to get a soundblaster 16 for a Retro build in the future

I remember those memory defrag programs that created more ram and cleared out old unused data

memory was so expensive back then £70 for 2 matching EDO dims

Memmaker.exe was the one built into dos.

Laws only govern the honest.

Mine was some old company computer. It was  pentium 4 at 1.8 Ghz, 512mb ram, and that's honestly all I can remember. It was SLOW! Got to write some papers on it though.
