Upgrading GPU help!

Hey guys!

I am currently looking into upgrading my gpu in order to get some better frame rates in games, but I have some concerns. I was just wondering what you guys think would be the best graphics card I could get with my current build in order to maximize performance without being bottle necked by the rest of my components. Or it is possible for me to upgrade my cpu with my current setup so that I could handle a better gpu such as a gtx 1070? (im pretty much just trying to avoid buying a new computer)

Click here for my build

Thanks,

- Andrew

You can go for a 1070 anyways, m8, shouldn't be too bad of a bottleneck.

really? I was told in the past that my cpu would bottleneck the 1070 very bad

Don't get me wrong, it will. But people have a misconception that bottlenecks are the devil's work, to be avoided at all costs. The 1070 is still going to bring you a substantial benefit, even if your CPU won't be able to fully utilize 100℅ of the card's potential.

Do you think that, even with the bottleneck, I would be able to game around 60fps at 1440p for most games at high-ish settings with the 1070?

Since it can normally push 60fps at Ultra in all games and your CPU isn't THAT bad, I'd say definitely. Might want to look around to see what other people can do on similar rigs, but you should be fine.

thanks for the help wrathoftheturkey, I really appreciate it

Wait, I take that back. After looking around, I realized that the 1070 would get bottlenecked harder than I thought. If you can afford to hold out until Zen or Kaby Lake, I'd say get a 1070 now. But if you're on a budget and shooting for the best long-term value right now, I'd get a 1060 and use the difference to get an i5.

Alright, Ill probably just get the 1070 and upgrade the cpu once they come out because ill have some more extra money then so it should work out perfectly!
