2160p @60 YT does not work on smart tv?

Kajeto

Hello guys. I seem to be having a problem with 4k 60 fps content on YouTube while on my Philips Pus6401 4K TV. Whenever I choose to play such a video the screen gets bugged. What happens is that it gets separated horizontally and while the bottom half displays a set of bugged, vertical, artifact-like lines, the top half displays two identical sets of a working video that I chose. It only happens with the 60fps content, the usual 4K plays like a charm. Is it hardware or software related? All is up to date. The tv has a native refresh rate of 60hz, it utilizes an rgb panel an supports hdr aswell.  What could be of a problem here? Thanks for your help.

Can that TV handle 4k/60? Many TVs can only handle 4k/30. Even if the TV has a refresh rate of 60 that may only be at 1080p and not 4k. Of the TVs that can do 4k/60 most will only have one HDMI port that can do 60hz, make sure you're using the right one. Even then, if it can do 4k/60 it might not be able to do full RGB/4:4:4 in 4k and only be able to do 4k in 4:2:0 meaning you might see issues if you try to push full 4:4:4 or RGB (my 4k TV is like this, it can do 1080p/120 and 4k/30 in RGB or 4:4:4 but can only do 4k/60 in 4:2:0). Is the image processor fast enough to decompress 4k/60 streams? It takes more power than people think. My PC can do it no problem but my laptop can't even handle 4k/30 much less 4k/60.

If you're in Europe: Is it set to PAL or NTSC? I believe PAL is only 50hz while NTSC is 60hz.

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Spoiler

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

I checked a few 60fps hdr demos and they worked perfect without any issues, and without losing any frames. the tv also does rgb 4:4:4 at 4k. The issue persists only while watching 2160p60 on youtube. Maybe something with the cpu or the app itself? I know that this philips tv has a quad core cpu and uses android tv system.
