reason for gtx 780 ti

brownninja97

From what we have seen so far it looks like the 290x is going to beat the titan, if nvidia wants to counter then then what is the price bracket, will the 780ti beat the titan? The information so far says it only has 3gb(that is a lot of vram but not enough at the price bracket). Why did they call it 780ti, it sounds stupid, why not gtx 785 like the mobile series, the ti series seems out of place when its not a x60 or x50 card. first the 650 ti boost and now this, their naming is getting worse.

If they named it the 785 like the mobile series, it could easily get confused with their mobile card lineup. As for the performance, I'm expecting the 780ti to outperform the Titan by a 10% or greater margin. There's absolutely no point in filling the extremely minuscule gap between the 780 and the Titan.

Who knows exactly what the 780 ti is. We need to wait for benchmarks. This could be what Linus has mentioned about a Titan with all the cores unlocked or whatever, just without the Titan name. Or it could be an overclocked 780 with more CUDA cores. We'll have to wait and see.

A higher end card that's a cut-down version of the Titan to compete with the 290x.

And the Titan doesn't get beaten in all scenarios by the 290x, they actually leap frog each other back and fourth depending on the application.

And you can't simply ignore the premium features that can be useful to video editors...etc

Stop bloating nonsense, and reason to contribute in a constructive manner.

am i the ONLY one that doesnt give a damn about ~5% difference in performance

for me its quality of gaming

after i saw that anti-stutter tech im SOLD

even if it was slower

id rather have no stutter/tearing vs ~7 fps more

im gaming on a 6 yearold 12ms 1600p dell monitor

cant wait for asus to have a 27 inch ips 1440p monitor !

I would be disappointed, but not much. The reason I have such high expectations is because if the R9 290x does end up being faster than the Titan, Nvidia will want to bring in something that is decently faster than it. Like I said, I could very easily be wrong.

They already do? Asus PB278Q, I personally had a lot of problems with it like dead pixels which I couldn't stand. I settled with a Dell U2713HM.

I think the ultrasharps have very low chance of dead pixels.
