I call them flash drives or USB sticks sometimes. I dont use them that often so the name never really comes up in day to day life.

I think "Memory Stick" annoys me because I always think of stupid standard that sony created to make more money... :D

CPU i5 4430 3Ghz | Ram: 16GB DDR3 1600 | GPU: GTX 650 Ti 1GB | Mobo: H87N-Wifi | Case: White Bitfenix Prodigy | Boot Drive: 120GB 840 Evo (Mac OS X) 120gb OCZ Vertex 3 (Windows) | Games Drive: 640GB WD Green | OS: Windows 8 & OS X 10.9.1

I love all technology. The perfection of macs for my designer side, and the hardware and fun of tinkering on the of the pc side. We can have it all, just not at the same time.

I refer them as the untouchables, their speed is painfully slow for anything at all.Except for the USB 3.0/3.1 kinds.

Normally i transfer data through removing the drives from one computer and throwing it in another, except the laptop which i use a SATA to eSATA cable.

Flash drive.  Some people call them "jump drives" or "zip drives", makes no sense.

I just use the word that my family uses most. "pinneminne" which directly translated from swedish to english becomes "stick memory".. just because it's easy to say.

When i am speaking/typing english then i just call it a flash drive.

USB stick usually.

Thumb drive sometimes, no idea where that name comes from but it's what my parents always call them :P

possibly: its the size of your thumb or you use your thumb to pull it out?

ive always refered to it as a flash drive but my father in-law calls it a USB Dongle. now that i cant explain lol

A flashdrive is technically not a USB dongle though many USB dongles are in the shape of flashdrives...

If you have a good one a USB 2.0 one is just as fast as a external HDD attached via USB 2.0 so really your saying USB 2.0 is too slow which I would have to agree with and would like to add that USB isnt really optimized for storage devices.

Flash drive.  Some people call them "jump drives" or "zip drives", makes no sense.

jump drive makes just as much sense as calling tissues kleenex. Now zip drives makes no sense since a zip drive in an actual thing and was a competitor the CD-R and CD-RW.
