Hey guys,

as the it's in the title I'm a bit insecure about a gaiming Setup a friend of mine wants to buy.

Since you helped me out a lot when I bought mine I thought about coming back to you. :)

His price limit is around 1,2k-1,3k, because he also has to buy a new monitor and a keyboard.

He also thought about going down to the GTX1060 to save some money. And he also want to stick with NVIDIA.

I suggested him the following setup.

Suggestion

Is the Setup ok, or would you change something?

I already say thank you for your great help. My friend and I are really apreciating it a lot.

Best Wishes

For 1080p gaming, I'd drop down to a 1060 and get an SSD.

Keep the 1070. Drop the HDD to a 1TB maybe or a cheaper case as well as something like a 500-550W PSU. Use that money for a 120GB-240GB SSD as a boot drive.

Looks good...

Only thing I would change is the storage setup... SSHDs are (in the simplest of terms) glorified hard drives. Get yourself a HDD + SSD combo instead.

'Fanboyism is stupid' - someone on this forum.

Be nice to each other boys and girls. And don't cheap out on a power supply.

Spoiler

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K - 4.5 GHz | Motherboard: ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO | RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 | SSD: Samsung 850 EVO - 500GB | GPU: MSI GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6GB | PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G2 | Case: NZXT Phantom 530 | Cooling: CRYORIG R1 Ultimate | Monitor: ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q | Peripherals: Corsair Vengeance K70 and Razer DeathAdder

get an SSD

He's getting an SSHD basically an SSD and HDD in one peice.

I'd say your great, just check if you friend has peripherals (monitor mouse and keyboard) and factor that into your plans. Also if you went with something like the eclipse p400 for the case, and droped the disc reader (not much reason for one any more) you could save some money.

no they are not like an ssd hdd combo. and ssd boot drive has all the data you need to run fast on it like the os and programs. a sshd wont do that and you will just being using a slightly faster hhd.

As someone who has a SSHD, its absolutely NOT a replacement for a SSD boot drive. Far better to get a small SSD for the c drive and an HDD for the D separately

For gaming, I would drop the 6700K to a 6600K.

i5-8600K -  Asus Strix Z370E - Asus GTX 1060 Strix - EVGA 650W P2 - Samsung 970 Pro 500GB - G.Skill TridentZ 16GB

Ok, thank you very much for all your replies so far.

@Brooksie359 is the Corsair Vengance case stopping the sound good? Because my friend wants the PC to be not too loud.

If you have loud components you will have a loud computer. The cases won't really change that. That being said my friend has that case and his pc runs pretty quite so the case fans it comes with aren't loud.
