Hello all,

 

During the creation of Linus Forum Tips (my unofficial LTT app) and several others, I've been wondering what the best way to monetize an app or game is.

EDIT: To give some background.

 

I am seeking to monetize some apps I've made because I'd like a return on my investment and because I'd like to explore other opportunities with these apps and this would be expensive/impractical for me.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

done, always glad to help and good luck with getting some money for your work :) also how is the app doing? i havent gotten a notification from the thread for ages but LTT might have un-followed me from it like it did with some buildlogs a while back :| 

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

The app is doing great, the android port is having some issues but is mostly fine. One of the opportunities,  I was talking about was porting to IOS which unfortunately would cost me $99 USD per year. Hence my interest in funding it.

the android app is alredy out? damn i need to get that, like now xD

I did the form and stuff :) but I just wanted to say I woulda liked having ads as a choice. For example, on desktop applocations and especially games I think ads are the worst way, but for mobile I think ads are the best way. Just sayin' :)

ads eat up cpu cycles a reduces battery life, that is the reason a lot of people root their phones. Ad block.

True, but in terms of getting money off an app it's probably the most profitable. It isn't so easy to get people to pay for a random game or buying stuff for a random game, but getting someone to play a game for free and maybe have to watch a few ads on the side is generally more appealing to customers.

Unfortunately no..........

 

We've been having some issues since Google hasn't documented some APIs very well and we've been having trying to fix this for weeks.

 

We will launch a closed Alpha once it is working kind of as intended and then later an Open Beta.

would love to partake in the Beta atleast :) well i found that it was broken by downloading it and it not working :(

I assume in game purchases means microtransaction or pay to win style affairs

 

Generally I only find initial purchase and non first day/cut content DLC to be acceptable, I also give cosmetics a pass everything else I want no part of.
