did you see the spam in your "sent" folder? 

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

Luckily I enabled 2 factor authentication last year, and since a month ago when they killed YIM I have no more reason to keep using Yahoo.

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

I had honestly been lazy and hadnt changed it in a while so I can't say I'm shocked.

both whitehat and blackhat hackers have been saying for years that Yahoo has a lot of back doors left wide open for a breach. It's unfortunate that Yahoo takes all these years to publicly admit what they've known for years.

When you change your password for yahoo. You should change it for all accounts that has that password, and email for logging in...

The last time I opened my Yahoo! Mail was 2010 so I don't think this would be a big deal for me but I'm changing its password just in case. Right now, I use Gmail for personal and Office 365 for work stuff.

I'm extremely suspicious of this 'State Sponsored' claim. On the basis that this somehow tries to make it sound like they're not responsible post North Korea attack on Sony.

 

Its not acceptable for a provider to claim that a hacker is state sponsored to avoid responsibility. I don't see Microsoft or Google complaining in this way.

 

 

I will also add, I'm one of the 500 million (8 million British) people that are affected. Indeed I was complaining in 2015 to the UK based Yahoo affiliate email provider of daily compromising of my account (nothing stolen) just my email account was being automated use for spam distribution.

 

Indeed had a written response from both the UK ICO and the UK ministry on the poor state of email security - predominantly in the USA based companies (Yahoo!) providing the back end.


Whom are treating personal data like confetti.

So I received this. I don't actually use yahoo for my email, but a couple of my junk accounts are yahoo. I'm not concerned as they are unique passwords, (a very good practice to follow) and I can easily drop the account with an hours notice
