Zotac Geforce GTX 1060 Poor Performance HELP

Hello PC World,

So I have a troubling issue. I received today a GTX 1060 6GB by ZOTAC and was all excited to run games at high quailty. Just to start I played COD 4 and was only getting 30 fps. I couldnt believe that on a 1060. So i made sure I had all drivers up to date tweaked my settings, made sure my bios driver was up to date, and made sure my refresh rates were the same between windows and my graphics driver and still only getting 30fps even with vsync off. Tried GTA 5 on Very High settings which supposedly will run at 60fps and was only running at 30. Someone help! I am running out of things to do.

My build specs are:

CPU: Intel i7 4790K 4.0GHz

Motherboard: MSI B85M Gaming Micro ATX

Ram: 16GB of GSkill Ripjaws DDR3 at 1600MHz

GPU: Zotac Geforce GTX 1060 6GB

PSU: Zantec 850W

Monitor: Asus 23" 1920x1080 2ms

Look at the Nvidia control panel or install DDU and uninstall the drivers and go to older drivers

Right click blank desktop to go to nvidia control panel check if they recognise ur monitor as 60/59fps

Make sure there isn't any software running in the background that doesn't need to be running.

Are you using a overclocking utility like MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision?  Those have a setting to limit FPS that might be adjusted to 30FPS for some reason.

What is the GPU utilization % while gaming?

Just did and it has my monitor refresh rate set at 60Hz. So that shouldn't be the problem.

I read some where that it might be because of my cpu. Since it is an older cpu and i have a newer gpu the cpu might be causing a bottleneck. Is that possible?

Your PSU is garbage - it's likely power-starving the GPU.

4790K should be perfectly fine, definitely not bottlenecking a 1060

It might not be great, but I doubt it's power-starving a 1060

A garbage 800W PSU is actually a 200W unit in disguise - that's why you NEVER BUY CHEAP TOSH.
