Forza Horizon 3 Performance

LNW

Hey all you PC Forza fans I just had a quick question;

For those who played Apex & whatnot, how are you expecting to run FH3 on PC, and what hardware are you using? Just curious as to what I can expect when it drops.

Apologies if this is the wrong section for the topic.

I am not expecting to run FH3 at all with my build. GTX 760 + i5-4460. Maybe low settings. Maybe not run it at all.

Dang. I'm praying that I can run it at like medium settings. I've heard it won't support SLI so I'd probably have to drop some on a 980. Which is what I don't want to do.

I run Apex at 60+ fps on a mix of medium and high settings on my FX 6300 and my R9 280x (Gigabyte windforce model)

*Except when it drops below 60 in a massive car pileup at the end of La Source on the Circuit De spa francorchamps circuit

Don't know I seem to have issues with apex for some reason, I have a 970 and an i5 3570 but it runs like total crap.

I'm pretty sure a 780 is more powerful than an Xbox One's GPU so you should be able to run it

But also, that's not quite 1080p, nor is it at 60fps. Gotta have 60fps.

I'd expect it to run on my PC with something like a 950. Optimisation won't be horrifying, but it won't be good either.

I was able to get apex running at about 30fps at 720p on a 2GB GT 640 and a 4430 so you're definately going to be able to run it. Apex seems to be reasonably well optimized.

A 960 has no problems running 60 fps at Medium (though High is locked out due to only having 2 GB VRAM). The game is a big RAM hog. If you've only 8 GB Equipped, expect stutters.

When PC gamers were clamoring for a demo, Playground Games said if you wanted to test the game for performance to download Forza 6 Apex. So Horizon 3 should run basically identically. Why not just download that for yourself? It's free. And it's the only way to test your rig 100%.

Apex for me runs on a GTX 950 and FX 6300 runs at 720p@60 for me. Although there is this distressing bug that cuts my framerate by 10 FPS every time I restart in the middle of a race.

well I play apex maxed out with 2x msaa and keep a steady 110 fps+ at 1440p. So I;m expecting good things.

I'll let you know just as soon as the game is able to get past the intro movie (it crashes everytime it gets to the Playground Games logo)

There is a 15 page thread on their official forums about this exact crash and they seem to have acknowledged it in their "known issues" thread.

So far I've had nothing but trouble with the game.

Browsing the Windows Store for the game the store was saying my PC didn't even meet the min specs and had a red X over RAM and VRAM even though I met or exceeded the recommended requirements. (I have a 5820k, 16gigs ram, GTX 980).

First real issue, there was an error buying the game where after I clicked the final "Buy Game" button I got an error message just saying simply "There was an error on our end".

I never saw any sort of confirmation email but my bank showed that the money had been taken out.

The game did show up in My Library but everytime I tried to download it I got an error message with an 8x0....... code.

When I got home from work I saw that at some point the game had automatically downloaded but I'm now stuck at the intro movie crash.

The windows store does now at least acknowledge my PC specs showing my CPU and accepting I have enough RAM, VRAM and a good enough GPU.

So, i'm running on ultra, and have noticed that CPU usage is locked at 100% on core 1, while the other 3 cores in my 3570K hover between 40 and 60% usage.  After reading a couple of articles online, this seems to be the case with many users  who sport beefier i7 processors.  Hopefully the devs fix this with an update, because the game looks downright gorgeous on PC (also doesn't look half bad on console either).

Finally got to play the game.

Users with Avast antivirus have been reporting that they got the game to run by uninstalling Avast, not disabling, completely uninstalling it.

Game runs pretty well with most setting on high and can hold 60fps at 1080p most of the time.

Like IrshaadH mentioned the game seems to rely heavily on a single core on my 5820k (4.2ghz) and that seems to be the main bottleneck.

My GPU usage is around 80% and my temps are noticeably lower than they are in games that usually are GPU reliant.

*Edit* GPU is a GTX 980 running at 1455
