New PC in December

JacobGunther12

Hello! My name is Jacob Gunther and I am 13. I plan on building a new PC in December because my PC is pretty bad for what I want to use it for. I mostly will be gaming but in the future, I will be video editing. Please note: I will be selling my MacBook and my main PC, my parents will not be buying all of this. I will also do web design but I don't care if I use my main monitor for all of that. I only plan on running a single monitor but if I need more, I can always use my TV. My monitor will be also used for my Apple TV and my Xbox 360. I am upgrading because my computer is not good for what I use it for, it can barely run CS:GO at above 30 FPS. I plan on running games like Cities: Skylines, GTA V, No Man's Sky and other AAA games.

I am building my PC on PCPartPicker.com and here's my build:

My build is a total of $3593 USD. I know there is something you're gonna say, "Why am I building a $3,500 PC when I only have a i7-6700K?", I don't need a good CPU because the 6700K can handle video editing and Cities: Skylines and doesn't bottleneck the GPU at my resolution. Thanks, Jacob.

Don't make a parts list until your about to buy it.

There will be new parts out by then.

Also your lucky your parents are willing to pay for that.

Take our advice and don't plan out builds until you're sure you can pull the trigger on buying.

You're also way overspending on many respects like the RAM and the 2TB SSD.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

I want the 2TB SSD because I don't EVER want to upgrade my storage/RAM because I ran out of room, also I am not a fan of deleting things to download more games. I know I went a bit overboard on the RAM but like I said above, I don't wanna ever upgrade. More and more things are using more RAM constantly and I don't wanna figure out I've used over 4 GB of RAM because I am video editing a 1 hour video in 1440p.

Why not get 12tb of hdd. Its about the same price.

You will use more than 16gb of ram.

HDD has longer live than an SSD. You still need to upgrade SSD when it is about to die while HDD can last longer

Good idea, also, you could get raid 1+0 which would make it wicked fast. (Faster than ssd)

SSD will last longer, but cost more

It will still be slower than a ssd. The sequentical speeds will be around 350mBit/s while the ssd is about 2000mBit/s.

Also the random speeds are much better(10-20ms vs .2 ms)

I don't want HDD because I might need to move my PC around while it's on, or while I'm downloading a game. HDDs are less reliable and SSDs are so worth the price, of course if you have the budget.

CPU: Why are you building a $3,500 PC when you only have an i7-6700K, you want to play Cities: Skylines, a game which relies so much on CPU.

Memory: Only 16GB?

Storage: Overkill on the SSD, you don't need two, 2 TB is not worth it.

PSU: Thank you for not going too overkill on the PSU.

OS: You can get a cheaper version elsewhere.

WNA: Running a build like this over Wi-Fi makes me sad.

Monitor: TVs are awful to use, the response time is too bad.

Headphone: If you've got this much money to burn I'd recommend getting better headphones.

As far as I can contribute, really go for a different headset. I had the 430 which has the same padding and oh boy, am I glad that I now have a pair of hyper cloud headphones. Also, depending on what exactly you want to edit and stuff, if you're going 4k you really want to have at least 32-64gb of ram. Also, your parents must be rich if they are going to pay for all of that :o maybe you can add some RGB and stickers, it will make your PC faster

Rich/generous, what does it matter?

OP, your comment about not wanting to upgrade ram/SSD's, you might want to consider it, you could save money up front by not going for the 2TB drive and when you need another, buy one and just insert it, it's probably the easiest upgrade you can do on a PC

Memory: also explained in OP

storage: also explained in op

PSU: np

OS: choosing OS retailers other than the OEM is against PCPP's TOS

WNA: the mobo has an ethernet adapter, wifi adapt. is if for the room I move it to doesnt have Ethernet, I can use wifi temporarly.

Monitor: I am only gonna use my TV as the 2nd monitor for web design only

Headphones: nah, I like the color and they got 2ch surround, if I need other ones, I'll buy different ones

Nah I love that headset. Why would I be editing in 4K if I only have a 1440p monitor?!? as explained in OP, my parents aren't buying the entire PC.

You might want to consider 4k editing for the future, especially never you said that you really don't want to upgrade later on. 4k is becoming more and more of a standard and fact is that editing in general just asks a lot of ram. You might be fine with 16gb for now, but if you really don't want to upgrade then you might as well pick up more.

I am still willing to change products, but most I don't need a 6 core CPU since I won't be playing any games/video editing, this includes the other products in your list, like the RAIDing 2 960GB SSDs. I don't like raid since if one fails, you somewhat are most likely to loose your stuff.
