CPU and both GPUs are welded to the mobo

Sounds like a really bad decision on Acers side.  The Sager one had the GPUs on MXM modules, right?

I really wish that gaming laptops focused more on battery life. This may help VR a bit due to their declining sales because people won't need to be tied to something in order to play such games. The only other issue is just high cost, and how slow adoption won't change it.

2 1080s SLI is an overkill on a desktop, so why do that for a laptop. It's wasted money just for minimal performance gain. Just get 1 1080 and call it a day. Why is SLI even a thing when game developers barely support it? 2 of the same graphics card would be of use if SLI wasn't such a problem.

$4000 on a 2 1080 system? Good Luck selling that Sager! If you really need a 2 1080 SLI system, then you're better off getting a desktop with how many cooling issues you'll get. There's a youtuber that already sold his Sager NP9873 due to cooling issues.

I'm not hating on laptops, but this is going way too far! People need to know what they're buying into when they get these systems. SLI systems can barely run games at 4k so why do this on a laptop when a desktop already suffers from this? People buy a laptop for their own reason, but this is just bragging rights at this point. I'm happy that laptop performance has caught up with desktops now, but these companies and those who buy stuff like this are getting in way over their heads. If you need that much performance power, than upgrade your laptop's MXM card or desktop GPU if they can't keep up with the latest games. You're better off doing that than getting an SLI setup.

Laptops have limitations and we tend to forget about that. Systems like this *faceplam! SLI barely works, do yourselves a favor if you're gonna buy this laptop and get just 1 1070 or 1080, it'll suffice and for god sakes you don't need 4k for the performance hit you'll take while gaming and how bad Windows scaling is. 1440p 60hz or 120hz is the sweetspot if you have a 1070 or 1080. You really don't need 1440p either, but 1080 on a 1080p 120hz screen is an overkill for almost every game except Witcher 3.
