I'll just stick to PC, it can do more.

I think if it can actually play 4K that would be awesome for couch/TV gaming

looks like a sandwich. Nothing new really upscale to 4k with glorious 30fps, or did I miss something, will it be able to play games at 1080 @ 60fps ?

I don't have a current gen console, and if I go PSVR, this'll probably be the one I get over the cheaper standard model. Let's see what games we get first...

Main system: i9-7980XE, Asus X299 TUF mark 2, Noctua D15, Corsair Vengeance Pro 3200 3x 16GB 2R, RTX 3070, NZXT E850, GameMax Abyss, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB, Acer Predator XB241YU 24" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync + HP LP2475w 24" 1200p 60Hz wide gamut
Gaming laptop: Lenovo Legion 5, 5800H, RTX 3070, Kingston DDR4 3200C22 2x16GB 2Rx8, Kingston Fury Renegade 1TB + Crucial P1 1TB SSD, 165 Hz IPS 1080p G-Sync Compatible

Looks like an ice cream sandwich, we still don't know if it supports new UHD BD's. Still no dual band N support. According to the presenter "with ps4, we're pretty much maxing out what 1080p TV's can do with games" -_-, very little mention of VR performance, do you get a performance boost at 1080p since its technically scaling the games, do we get hdmi 2 support, etc.

Windows 10 Edu | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | Ryzen 9 3950x | 4x 16GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB| ROG Strix GeForce® RTX 2080 SUPER™ Advanced edition | Samsung 980 PRO 500GB + Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB + 8TB Seagate Barracuda | EVGA Supernova 650 G2 | Alienware AW3418DW + LG 34uc87c + Dell u3419w | Asus Zephyrus G14

I like it.  I'll buy one.

I think it'll be as entertaining as the PC fanboys that show up in the Console forum just to bad mouth consoles.  Except I think the console will serve more purposes than those idiots.

I really like it but there's one exclusion. 8 Gigabytes of RAM. Seriously Sony? What about 16 Gigabytes? or 12? Not just 8, or 4?!? What does Sony thinking. Even though, I like the GPU, but why? Just 8 GB!?! WHY SONY!!!! WHY!!!!?!?!?!?!?!

Currently still wanting to see on how HDR and 4k work in consoles. Unless there is performance increase on many titles (more consistence fps, better loading time, thermals etc) then I will just get ps4 slim. I only have 2k 16:9 monitor and will later plan to change to 21:9 2k monitor.

Think I'll stick to PC, and wait to see what NX has to offer.  Maybe I'll pick up the gen 1 version to play some of the HD Remakes...

Really?  That was fast. I have a launch console, too. It's doing just fine. <knock on wood>

I considered selling it, but I think I'll just put it in my son's bedroom. One of his monitor's has an unused HDMI input. In fact, the monitor isn't heavy and the stand is a ring. (Asus brand).  I'm gonna bet the PS4 could rest under the monitor with no heat or pressure issues.

Mine overheated at the 6 month mark, so now I have been using a factory refurbished one from Sony.

This one has random freezing issues. Heck, I had the thing nearly hard freeze on me for trying to delete the Youtube app.

It's time :(

It's probably just the hard drive.  I'd swap that out before spending $400+ on the Pro.   Unless you just want the Pro any way.  Swapping drives is super easy, and you just need a USB flash drive to reinstall the system software.

Either way, I'd still swap the drive to see.  I'd hate to see you throw away a perfectly good console just because the hard drive is stupid.

I'm excited. I'll be waiting for reviews to come out to see if its worth to upgrade. While reading through these comments, I had a thought. Why are like 75% of you here in console gaming? I feel like a lot of people come in here just to bash console gaming.

Im a PC gamer, I have been for a few years. Before I got in to PC gaming I had a PS2, I used the hell out of that little box. I watched the Microsoft E3 Coverage with a buddy who is a MS fan boy. I was really surprised at the specs of the Scorpio. I even gave MS some kudos. When I seen the specs of the PS4 Pro, Im beginning to think Sony is in very bad shape indeed. I know they have been kinda struggling for a while. Im not sure if they just dropped the ball or what. I know a lot of console gamer's could careless about 4K gaming. But, is the PS4 even a worth upgrade? Plus, the lack of a 4K bluray player is mind boggling. Because if I were to buy a 4K TV, Id probably would have bought a PS4 for Bluray and maybe picked up a few games. I think the dropped the ball big time with that. They could have at least did 4K streaming and Bluray playback. The only reason I got a PS3 was for Bluray's. Then I gotta a few games to go with it, and it was one of the best Bluray disk players on the market. Maybe Sony is hoping there PS service on the PC will take off.

Every one has told me, these are not next gen consoles. Then why in the blue hell did they make the PS4 Pro and the Scorpio. Why not wait till your ready for a new console? I understand why the XBone S and The PS4 Slim, because there have always kinda been those consoles to come out. But if these are not next gen consoles then whats the point of the Scorpio and PS4 Pro? So, is the Nintendo NX not a next gen console? Im sorry, Im just confused.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Console gaming has a place so I for one am not here bashing console gaming. I just think the idea of the PS4 Pro is a bit odd. It's marketed as a 4K media box but it doesn't do UHD BluRays. The only media that's actually using 4K currently ("4K" Netflix isn't really 4K). It tries to call itself a high end gaming experience but falls short of the sort of specs you could get on a PC. And console gaming in general has been about simplicity but now we have, potentially, 3 PS4s and 3 XBOnes on the market.

Console gaming is a bit of a mess ATM if you ask me. Well, except for Nintendo who is basically AFK currently doing who knows what
