I have a Galaxy S6 and I like it, it wasn't quite my first pick as I wanted a 5X or LG G4.

I wanted the G4 in black leather and they only had it in plastic and maybe tan leather for the two carriers we could choose from.

Don't get me wrong, the S6 is a great phone but it's too much like an iPhone. Though I do like the placement of the fingerprint reader, something the G4 doesn't have. Eh, we're eligible for upgrade in November of next year and so far I'm still liking my S6. Though I think I would consider getting something else. Inb4 LG has a G4 Mk. II with like a Snap 830 1440p or 1080p AMOLED screen and hell maybe 8GB of RAM since the One+ 3 has like 6GB.

So, how would this apply to people who buy their iOS devices a generation later in order to get those cheaper prices? (me)

Somehow I just can't seem to agree with this research. I tend to see that trend within people who buy the cheaper Android models like BLU, Oppo, etc, but never the high-end devices either like Sony X series, Samsung S/Note series, HTC One series, etc..

Population size is irrelevant, yes, but having a good cross-section of society is very useful for statistical purposes. Having 200 some odd participants is very unlikely to get a true good cross-section. Not to say the data is invalidated, but it should be taken with context and measure.

It would be hard to know without looking at the actual study, but squaring things out would require a careful sampling design. I suspect this is more likely to be a very homogeneous sample of the university's undergrads, unless they outsourced it to Amazon Turk or something like that.

Otherwise this could be a very representative sample of Psychology majors in their early 20s

Indeed - also true with certain classes of Flagship Android devices - the Galaxy Edge series comes to mind.

 

I don't think it's specifically the users, but rather, just a subset that buys things for different reasons.

This study is literally useless. The study says its how they are perceived not how they actually are. But regardless, Apple has sold over a billion iPhones and there is also more than a billion Android phones sold as well, but yet this study of 240 people is supposed to mean something? Lmao.

not sure I will go back to an iPhone after I'm done with my newer Galaxy S7. I liked the OS on my iPhone a bit more I think and I've heard that iPhones have very efficient batteries, but iPhones from what I know are generally slower processor and I can't add my own micro SD card for expansion. Pluss Galaxy S7 has wireless charging which I've been meaning to get. Might help me avoid breaking the charging port which we had happen on our iPhones before due to fatigue from always plugging it in and out time after time.

 

Lastly the new iPhone won't have a 3.5mm audio jack so my headphones/earbuds are now obsolete for no good reason it seems.

I'll recommend android to those who understand mobile technology as well as I do.  For the senior citizens and white girls with uggs, I'd just tell them Apple would be better.  It's not about what's better, it's about what works best for your daily uses.

I've been really struggling with the idea of upgrading to either whatever newest Iphone of the time or samsung galaxy of the time when I can upgrade. I loved my iphone 4 when I had it, I never really had any issues and it was a nice and simple device that lasted from receiving it to when I upgraded. Then I got the galaxy note 4 and I loved it at first, it had a much simpler control scheme and easier to follow, with more I could change. Though for the past year it's been getting worse and worse and I don't understand at all. Sometimes it just stops functioning which can be a real pain.. Like I said tho i'm struggling cause I loved galaxy but had problems long term with them, But Iphone wasn't as intuitive but seemed to have lasted longer with no issues!

I know many Apple and Samsung users who both act like they're superior to anyone else simply because they don't own the same phone as them.

I don't think there's a lot of difference between the snobby Apple or Samsung users of the world - in fact, I think that being stuck up is more of your personality than it is the phone you use.
