6700k vs 6800k vs 5930k heavy editing rig, looking for best bang for buck, also motherboards

Guest

Lots and lots of editing, coloring, after effects, 4k footage etc.

Currently using a 2500k @ 4.5ghz and a 980ti hybrid. 2500k is definitely bottlenecking, though I know I won't be able to use 100% of the graphics card with cuda rendering. 980ti will be sticking around.

Also would like suggestions for a motherboard to go with it. Lots of USB3 ports, atleast 1 USBC port (which might not exist if I get a 5930k). Dual-gigabit would be nice since I plan on setting up a pretty nice NAS at some point. ATX size.

Whichever I get I'll be getting 32GB of ram.

thanks!

Agree. 5930K has same amount of cores as 6800k and an ever so slightly higher clock speed, but 6800K has a more efficient architecture (14nm vs 22nm) as it is newer generation and is $100+ cheaper for comparable editing performance. 6 cores will give you a boost for editing over the quad-core 6700k, probably worth the $100 if you edit a lot.
