What could this be?

Im a sound noob so clueless

Any bent cables? Everything plugged in correctly? 2x check!

Nothing bent, weird that its EVERY speaker

I made sure the cable which has the line through goes to positive on speaker and receiver, is this back to front?

Should the marked cable go to negative? My cables are all white, but 1 has a grey line through

What is your home cinema currently connected to, the audio part?

Just the cables to each speaker, HDMI to TV, and the power cable.

The static is when i run the "sound test" for each speaker

So, you are getting static in sound tests, but everything else is working or not, i am confused here.

Static in sound test, and no sound at all elsewhere

What kind of sound tests do you use?

The software built into the LG receiver

Ive fixed it. The manual said HDMI audio, when i added optical cable it worked, manual was printed wrong!

It probably supports ARC (Audio Return Channel via HDMI), but that needs to be supported by the TV too (and enabled on the TV side) for it to function.

Since you used an optical cable from the TV, you should be set. The "static" from testing is normal; that is just pink noise generated by your system for testing.

Oh great thanks - all is working pretty sweet, sound is great for a cheap system - for a non audiophile anyway and after using TV sound haha
