G2A Steam gift instead of key?

Saiyan

Was going to buy a game on G2A and it's only available as a Steam gift. I don't want to give this game away. I want to play it myself so how do I go about purchasing this.

1.Make another steam account which you will not use

2.Buy the game on that 2nd steam account

3.Give the game to your main account

Done !

You can redeem a Steam gift on your own account by selecting "add to library" in the inventory screen.

Meaning I don't need to use a second account? and does the email I get the link sent to matter ? meaning will it ask me to sign into steam after I click the link so that I can make sure it's on my main account

Nah, you don't need a second Steam account mate. You can use any email, it will just prompt you when you click the inside link to activate the game to your inventory or library in the currently signed-in Steam account. Of course, if the currently-signed in account is not the one you wish to use, then you can just sign out and sign in to that one before going ahead and activating the product.

Thanks. I've never bought anything but keys so this is a first for me.

@Slick has recommended to buy Steam Sale games as gifts. It doesn't (or hasn't) made any difference and you can giveaway game if you don't want it in the end. I'm not sure, but I thought Steam introduced some cooldown for gifts.
