i might install something like chrome os or steam os beta

I'm not sure you understand OSs. The only "Windows Based" operating systems that can give you the high functionality in gaming of a "Windows Based" operating system ARE windows operating systems. There are no "Windows Based" operating systems other than the ones that the CREATOR of Windows make. You could try Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10. Windows is the best OS for gaming, you could try Linux or Mac but you wont get the same performance.
