Has anyone considered a Celeron G3900? That thing can run GTA V 1080p@60fps, but I only saw one video on this, so I can't be confident with this.

I feel like it'll suffer the same problems as the Pentium, but worse due to its weaker cores and threads.

Linus' earrings suit him

Hello there!
Need some buying advice, so i was looking to buy a i7 6700k. Currently i have a i3 4330k on a Asus h97-plus motherboard, SSD i 8gbs of ram, my question is, am I gonna have some speed improvement if i upgrade, mainly doing photo editing (adjustments) and massive exporting which lasts for like 2-3 hours which is really starting to be annoying so looking forward to an upgrade!
That also means I have to switch to some other motherboard so i would need a advice for that. My current budget is about 500 euros.
Thanks!

Hola,

I also need some advice, I currently have a g3258 @ 4.5 GHz, MSI z97 gaming 3, and 8 GB RAM, I'm planning on upgrading to a 4690k.

My question is should I be fine with a 4690k purely for gaming or would I be better off getting a 4790k? Or stick with the g3258 for now? Or are there any other options available?

Thank you for any and all inputs!

I'm leaning towards getting a gtx 1080 since I currently have both a 1440p and a 1080p monitor.

The 1440p will be the main monitor for gaming then the 1080p will be used for browsing and other stuff.

which cpu is best for video editing? i7 6700k?

Yes. High clocks (and IPC) will help more than hyperthreading, but hyperthreading does help by keeping information at the ready for the next cycle.

It is. I'd rather people know why rather than just follow someone else.

Get the best your budget allows. After that start tweaking settings to get the performance you want.

I ordered 2 older Xeon e5-2660's (the original) for $50 based on an older LTT video and saw that they perform combined at about the level of a single 6900k, but am worried about their gaming performance on dx11. How good is dx11 multithreadding? The build will have 16 cores if that helps at all.

DX11 inherently loads 1 core while leaving others relatively untouched, as compared with something like Vulkan or DX12 which spreads out that "rendering coordination load" much better.  But beyond this, there's whatever the game specifically has to do for its own functioning, like AI, physics, etc. and how this is spread out depends solely on the game, and isn't related to the graphics API used.  Certain games like Cities Skylines have shown an ability to use up to 8 real cores, while most games still don't benefit from more than 4 (ie, an i5 is good enough).

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

They have but the fundamentals are still the same:

  • CPU will be an actual CPU and not paper
  • Fan will be an actual heatsink and fan, and not a block of paper mâché with a picture of a fan stuck on it
  • Box will be free of spelling errors and security tape will make it clear that it was actually factory sealed

Are you sure all intel CPU's come with heatsink, fans, and thermal paste ?

They don't all come with heatsinks and fans, but if they do, they will be real xD

I'll give you a hint: Look at the release date of the video and then look at the release date for Kaby lake. The Video even has "2016 Edition" in the title.

Keeping these spreadsheets updated would mean a lot of work. These kinds of videos are snapshots of what's currently available. I'm pretty sure that there will be a 2017 edition when AMD has released their new CPU's in March.
