Also very important - make sure you buy a real CPU at all :D

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Hm, currently i have i7-3770 non K, on a Asus Maximus V motherboard (LGA 1155 and z77), 16 gigs of ram, and a 980ti strix factrory overclocked from Asus, Samsung 850 PRO 512 Gig as OS drive, so regarding this theme, should i wait for Kaby lake CPU lineup to hit the market and upgrade for that, or can i still sit on my 3770 non K untill next generation after Kaby lake, which is Cannon Lake if im not mistaken there.

finally a video worthy of LTT

i just noticed this when i was trying to upgrade a HP Z240 desktop with more RAM and the desktop just gave me memory errors and refuse to boot

turns out the HP Z240 system just hates ECC RAM even thou the board is a C236 chipset based mobo

but because the CPU used is a i7 6700 (dont ask me ask HP)

that was the reason why the ECC RAM didn't work

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

no mention of the LGA 2011 E5 2670 on the used cpus? those have 8 cores over the 3960x 6 cores but you can find them for less than $100 at ebay.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

are the motherboards expensive though?

they are IIRC(unless you get the no-name china ones from taobao :P) but he did mention that the motherboards may be harder to find and more expensive(possibly) so i felt that he could have added that in.

It's just that if you consider the motherboard and CPU combo (since you'll need both obviously) the cheaper of those two is what's best, not necessarily just the cheapest CPU.

Eh if you  get anything higher than a 1070 for gaming (or sometimes even a 1070) you should be getting an i7 since there are quite a few which will get a large gain form it, otherwise the rest falls in line with what it should

https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/631048-psu-tier-list-updated/ Tier Breakdown (My understanding)--1 Godly, 2 Great, 3 Good, 4 Average, 5 Meh, 6 Bad, 7 Awful
