Question about motherboard fans

RNGesusHatesMe

hye guys just built my comp and i noticed it doesnt allow pwm controll throgu hsoftware the only pwm it has is only trhese options in bios (in pictures)

the stock h105 fans i got are louder than i like if i got some other fans would they be quieter or would the bios lock them as the fans lowest rpm is only 1000 just find it strange as the fan headers on the mobo are 4 pin

if so what fans should i get been looking at the following

http://www.msy.com.au/sa/adelaide/pc-accessories/15784--thermaltake-cl-f038-pl12re-a-riing-120mm-red-led-fan.html (not sure what colour led ill be using )

Ill be needing 2 for the h105 then another 2 for the 2 aio cooled 1080s ill be getting (not decided on it )

Those are about as low as they will go. If you want new fans, get the vadar fans, they're designed for radiator use

Desktop: i7-6700K / Asus Z170 S / H100i V2 / LPX 2400Mhz 16GB / 960 EVO 250GB / 2x 860 EVO 500GB / RM750i  / NZXT H440 XB271H + Z22n Monitors

Laptop: Thinkpad T450s / i7-5600U / 12GB / 860 EVO 500GB

1150rpm fan: https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-vardar-f1-120-1150rpm

1450rpm fan: https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-vardar-f2-120-1450rpm

1850rpm fan: https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-vardar-f3-120-1850rpm

2200rpm fan: https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-vardar-f4-120-2200rpm

Depends on which one you like. These rpms are the max rpm at 100% speed.

Are you using the cpu_fan header? Other headers usually aren't as reliable for pwm.

Also, the pwm/c value can only go so low depending on your temps.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

my h105 pump is plugged into the cpu fan header is that what i should be doing ?

my temps are always <60 at max load and idle 22 and under (4.5 ghz on 6700k)

  1. apparently the sound im getting is due to the pwm being controlled by voltage as thats what my motherboard does ?

The pump uses DC and the cpu_fan header is usually for pwm. You should power the pump off of a 3pin header off of the motherboard.

ok after looking around it seems i can control pwm with gigabytes siv although im not sure if its the fans making the sound or the motherboard due to using possible dc control to control pwm its really werid :/ it sounds like a bit of pulsing but it  could just be the fact that they are the cheap stock fans

Which fans are making the noise and which headers are each fan connected to?

What motherboard do you have?
