So I assembled my first PC. I have 2 issues atm. My MSI z170a m5 motherboard is displaying an error code of a green 0 0. It won't boot and show anything.

 

Secondly, my leds don't turn on. I couldn't find the led + or - connections in my Phanteks p400 case? There should be some?

There should be LED connectors for the case LEDs, they are 2 small 1 pin connectors, marked LED + or something like that, or are you talking about those other LED strips?

There are leads for the HDD acticity LED yes, and the LED itself is a tiny LED above the power button

Have you plugged your 8 PIN CPU power cable in?

I have a 250gb 850 evo ssd in the back plugged in. I have everything but the graphics card and an ssd. It it connected to a tv via hdmi. The case fans and cpu fan are spinning. 

 

I am am not sure if the USB ports in the front or back as I plugged my keyboard in and could not turn on the keyboard lighting. I will get a closer picture of the board and all the connections.

The led strip is connected to a y connector already on the case. None of the case leds are illuminated. Only the motherboard is illuminating.

 

what does green 0 0 mean? The motherboard does not specify

Additionally the PC is having trouble turning off. I press the power button and it turns on easily, however shutting down seems like the power button is unresponsive

Can you hear a beep when you power on? The case led connectors should have been with your front cord umbilicals.

Are you sure it's not a D0? as far as I'm aware 00 is not used

I'm sure non of the LEDs work because those single 1 pins are not connected. I couldn't find them in the pressures case wires. I feel stupid because I have been looking for those 2 single connectors for over 10 minutes.

The real problem is the PC doesn't post or boot or talk to the monitor in anyway. I can figure out lighting later. I want to install Windows via my bootable USB I created with Windows 7 pro on it.

 

The PC does not create an image. I wouldn't need a graphics card plugged in to do so?

Yeah, those are missing, check your optical drive bays if you have them. Go through basic troubleshooting with the mobo, power given, anything unplugged, etc.

HDD LED is a combined connector and not 2 separate connecters, just checked my p400. there shoudl be 3 cables, HDD LED, power switch, reset switch

 

and if you have it plugged in but the LED does not show then  it is plugged in the wrong way round

@DutchTexan Are you sure it's the error code "00" that you're getting? Isn't it "D0" or something?

So all there is to plug in that area are the 3 2 pin connectors? The case lighting doesn't work because I don't have an HDD plugged in?

the illumination for the LED in the power button and the Light strip are powered by a SATA poweerr connector

So they do not have power

What does late CPU initialization mean? That is error code D0

Apparently CPU related. I would remove the cooler, remove CPU, inspect socket, if all is good, reinsert, repaste, reinstall cpu cooler, and try boot up with 1 stick of RAM. If that does not work, try setting up the PC outside the case, on the motherboard box, that would rule out possible shorts

You must connect a sata power lead to IT, it will be in the same branch of cables that comes from the top

@DutchTexan Before doing what @r3d3mpt10n said, please try to remove the ram slots and try each one at the time. If that doesn't help, do what r3d3mpt10n said
