Sadly, some thermal paste really is that expensive or even more because they know dumbshits will buy it.

Well I purchased my 1060 from Scoptec for $429 plus shipping = $455 and then the day it arrived at my door step, MSY got it in for $415 pickup and postage!!

I got a 1070 ftw edition by evga at that price. Jeez Australian process really are jacked.

That's in AUD, not USD.

Positive Tech Experiences or Negative?
A negative tech experience would be my computer breaking 1 week after I bought it, and I guess that leads to the positive

PCCaseGear gave me free shipping to send my defective components (which was the motherboard) and they sent me back a replacement free of charge

Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

 

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.

If you buy a 1070 from amazon it would probably be about 600-700 AUD. GPUs are expensive in Australia, about 10-20% more expensive.

But hey at least Rabies doesn't exist in Australia right? But a 1060 here would cost 327 AUD if the prices weren't jacked over there.

AND we have to turn down our overclocks in summer otherwise we end up gaming in an oven and our PC suffers from extreme heat strokes.

Tech is very expensive over here. It is possible to get it at proper retail price if buying overseas, only you have to deal with longer shipping and international warranty. Still, if I buy a 1070 off B+H for ~$600 +$70 shipping and a protection plan/warranty for $50, it still comes out ~$50-60 cheaper than buying here (I'm currently on a tight budget, so I prefer to risk having deal with international warranty for better savings).
