is it any good if i carried it arround

as i want to hold like one thing and just use it on a bus as opposed to having a tablet that may fall off my lap and a controller

I have an iPad for that, I guess,  gaming on android outside of a handful of games and emulators is a bit poo

yeah thats 99% of what I use my portable for, its great for n64, PS4, Atari, Mega drive, gameboy etc

Im a big handheld user though, 3ds, Vita, PSP, etc etc etc

The tablet to me with a controller is just not an option since It limits my portability

my iPad is an exception but iOS seems much stronger in this regard from my experience just shit for emulators unless you jailbreak and I cant be arsed with that

If you want to play just games that require a controller then the portable is a better option.

If not, get the tablet.
