GTX 1060 or GTX 980 Ti?

Which one is better, the GTX 1060 Founders Edition, or the EVGA GTX 980 Ti FTW ACX 2.0+ with a backplate?

Also, the 1060 is 300 dollars and the 980 ti is 368.

Gtx 1060 is about equivalent to a GTX 980. So the 980Ti is faster but you might want to consider the GTX 980ti over the 1070 if the 980ti is cheaper than the 1070.

If thats the case I would jump on the 980ti because thats about $60 cheaper than a 1070 and performs better then the 1060.

Its still not equivalent its slower than a 980

Its close to a 980 or equivalent, whatever. OP should get the 980ti for that price, it would be a better deal then the 1070.

Yes It will be fine.

I had a 980ti EVGA hybrid with my 6600k and it worked really well together. A good combination to get. The only thing I will say is while the 980ti is still great but is the last generation of gpu so support for it moving forward will start to drop off.

For example I have a friend who has a 980ti ftw edition from EVGA 1 just gave up. Just flat out and died. So he sent it for RMA and they could not replace it with another 980ti. Ok they sent him a 1070 FTW edition but he does a lot of video editing and photo work as that's his profession so the extra cuda cores on the 980ti made rendering much quicker and that is fact. Plus he had 2 980ti in Sli so he will now have to get another 1070 FTW edition to SLi.  So in my eyes that is where support is starting to drop off. Yes Nvidia will release drivers for it but they will in no way shape or form focus on the 900 series cards anymore. There new baby is the 10xx series of cards.

The 980ti is faster, but at the cost of a higher price, wattage and slower memory.

pretty sure the 980 ti doesn't have slower memory also for 68 more bucks I would definitely get the 980 ti. It's about 30% faster than the 1060.

1070 and 1060 have the same memory as a 980ti. Only the 1080 has G5X

You can't expect a company to continue to produce a product that has been replaced. That would be silly. A 980ti isn't for production, that quattro. Your friend got a deal.

Yes I'm not saying they should keep on producing but clearly even stock now is diminishing of 980ti's.
