I would have a mac that runs windows tbh, mainly because my parents own a mac and the OS got really slow. Also, you didn't state which version of mac I could use sooo, mac pro lol.

 

WYR have loads of really bad PC's and know all about how they work and how to build them etc OR have one really good PC but you didn't know anything about it or how to build them?

WYR use my 2mbps down 0.5mbps upload internet or my Celeron Laptop (no desktop) for the rest of your life. (Yes I have both of those things and yes I use them both)

Beast PC because even a Console would be better than a compute stick, plus I'd have something to tinker with.

Also, I wanna say that I also have a laptop with a celeron core at 2GHz and 2GB ram lol. I don't go on it much either because I have my main rig now but I use it for graphics at school.

I don't live near an NCIX but my nearest Micro Center is 37km away. I'd bike to Micro Center. I'd get exercise, I'd hatch pokemon, and I'd get a new mouse.

 

WYR have a fast mousepad but a mouse with horrible feet that scrape along, or a super slow mousepad that's beat up and has rips in it but a really good mouse, OR (bonus option) use a trackpad.

I would rather cycle 25km because tbh with you, it isn't that bad. I cycled to my dad's work which was just over 25km yesterday.

If you can only use one interface device and it must be a gamepad, the Steam Controller is the only one that will never be awful.

Splitscreen. Mostly because I'd love to see what magic can make a 30-person FF2 match in splitscreen possible.

WYR have to open boxes with an extremely sharp knife that cuts thick plastic like butter (think of what might happen to your fingers/the product), or have to open all boxes without tools.

Only play games released more than 5 years ago.  The vast majority of my favorites are at least 5, or even 25 or 30 or more years old in some cases.

 

Wow I'm having a tough time coming up with one.  Hmm...

 

Use my dad's 8-year-old laptop (Dell D830, with Core 2 Duo T7250, integrated GPU, 2GB DDR2-667 RAM, Windows XP Pro, 500GB hard drive (no SSD)) as your main computer (which he still uses today), or a new Socket AM1 (or similar) system that fits in the Silverstone SST-PT13B case and costs <$200 including peripherals, everything bought new?  (Assume you overpay by as much of a percentage as some people on Amazon were selling GTX 1080s during launch week.)

 

 

And, if it's okay to answer some of the previous ones in this thread according to my own preferences....  (Links should be to the post where the question was asked.)

• ARM and 1 day (24 hours) battery life, provided it gets at least 200+ single-threaded in Cinebench and 1000 multi-threaded, and battery life is at constant 100% stress load.
• Heavenly sound but uncomfortable as σκύβαλα.  I figure I could modify the comfort, but improving the sound would be near impossible.
• i7-5960x + GT 610.  I can replace the GPU later, or just not game as much.  Upgrading the CPU later is more limited.  (I would really like to be able to upgrade from one i7-K to another on the same socket that has 3-5x better single-threaded performance.)
• 50 viruses on my PC.  I'd just wipe it and clone from one of the other clean PCs.
• Never play a computer game again.  I browse the web way too much, don't game all that much, and some games (including older ones) can be played in a browser, like on internet archive and other sites.
• Control the squad of robots.
• Celeron & Note 7.  Earlier I picked an i7 over a Celeron, but in this case I'd start with the Celeron in the desktop and swap it out for an i7-K.
• Good PC in vomit case.  I'd probably just use the box the motherboard came in as a "test bench".
• Phone thrown at me by a bully.
• Have the CPU I want. &nbsp;I could settle for using the Iris Pro iGPU or equivalent. &nbsp;(Or, since you didn't say the CPU couldn't be upgraded, if that's the case I'd take the GPU, then upgrade the CPU.)
• Case with no fans.  I do like silence.  (My Rosewill Thor V2, with its 3x 230mm fans + 140mm fan, and Hyper 212 Evo on my i7-4790K, is still a good 40-70 dB too loud for me depending on load.  The only time it's not too loud is when the system is powered off.)
• Phone which does computer.  I've been hoping that someday phones will catch up to computers in performance.  For example an entry level phone should be equivalent to an i5-6600K with 16GB DDR4-2400, 2x 512GB Samsung 950 Pro in Raid 0, and GTX 1060.  A flagship should be equivalent to 8x Xeon E7-8890 v4 (overclocked so it does >200-300 single-threaded in Cinebench R15), 24TB DDR4 ECC (if DDR4-4266 ECC was possible, then that), 2x Pascal GP100 in SLI & the rest of the PCI-E slots (on the motherboard that has 8 Xeon sockets for the desktop) occupied with 4TB Intel DC P3608 SSDs in Raid 0.
• 1080p display & Snapdragon 821.  I'd just use an external 4K or 8K display.
• This one's tough.  If the difference between product is minimal compared to the evilness or not of the company, I'd take the slightly worse product from the very nice company.
• Nice keyboard & horrible mouse.  I could get a decent enough mouse for not too much $.
• 1TB 5400rpm HDD with 100MB/s read speed.  The video I record on my Panasonic FZ1000 is only about 12.5 MB/s so there's still plenty of overhead there, and 64GB would be filled in only about an hour and a half or so.
• Greasy keyboard.  I'd wear nitrile gloves.  I'm guessing a crumb/cheeto keyboard could introduce technical issues with keys not working properly.
• 1920x1080 with 30fps.  I've gamed at 10fps before, and most videos I watch are 30fps.  Also I need my screen real estate.  (My next monitor is likely to be a 4K, unless this one breaks before I've saved up enough or prices have come down.)
• 1440p IPS.  In this case, image quality is more important than screen resolution for me.
• Excellent set of speakers.  Sometimes I would like to be able to listen with room-filling sound, be able to FEEL the bass in places other than my head, walk around without being tethered (yes I realize wireless headphones exist), etc.
• This one's tough.  I could add a surge protector in front, or add a WiFi/Bluetooth PCI-E card.  I guess it depends.  If mini ITX, I'd take the built-in WiFi/Bluetooth.  If MicroATX, maybe.  If ATX with 7 full-length (physical AND electrical) PCI-E 3.0 x16 slots, I'd take the surge protection.
• 8K screen with GT 610.  At 50", I'd take the higher pixel density up front, and upgrade the GPU.
• Good sound system that shouts "اللعنة عليك", "你他媽的", "vas te faire encule", "σας γαμήσω", "לזיין אותך", "くたばれ", "당신이 섹스", "vilis", "те ебам", "knulle deg", "دمار از روزگارمان درآورد شما", "pieprzyć", "foda-se", "пошел на хуй", "ප්රෙහේලිකා", &nbsp;"jódete!", "మీరు ఫక్", "เพศสัมพันธ์คุณ", or "آپ کو بھاڑ میں" every 5 minutes.  I'd just reprogram it somehow, or replace it.
• In this case I think I'd take the really good trackball.
• I'd take one game a year.
• I'd build ultimate gaming PCs for a living.  (I figure I could "sell" myself one at some point.)
• Phablet. (I'm assuming you misspelled with "phanblet".)  An LG G4 or Note X doesn't look all THAT dumb, and phones like those are what I've heard referred to as "phablets".
• 4" with 820.
• Big cheap case with good cooling.
• 1080p 50fps & stays there.
• I'm not familiar with either controller so idk how to answer this one.
• I'd likely take the $400 PC, if the parts are obtained "Scrapyard Wars" style.
• Indie game for 300 hours.  I think I like some indie games, and they're cheaper usually (and often free).
• Laptop without connected standby with 8-hour battery life.  (Assuming I could still hibernate.)
• 2nd option.  If I followed popular topics like this one my notifications would quickly be quite cluttered.
• GPU as bottleneck.  I'm used to it anyway, my GPUs over the years (some in my dad's PC) have been marvelous pieces of engineering like the ATI All-In-Wonder (original one), GeForce2 MX 400, ATI X1250 iGPU, Intel HD 4600, etc.
• Keyboard with really even Kalihs.
• 4K 60Hz IPS any day.  60 Hz is enough for me, and I need my screen resolution & image quality.
• Programmer, assuming I could have training ahead of time.
• Use computer for work/school stuff.
• Brick my phone by accident.  It's several times cheaper to replace it than my computer.  (Now if that means I couldn't get the data off the phone, by taking out the SD card, or unsoldering the built-in chip & putting it in something else, that could change things.)
• Perfect audio but crap video.  Sometimes I'm doing other things so I'm listening without watching anyway.
• BSOD, but this one's tough if I think about it.  I suppose I could recover from both and do some protection, but I'd still take the BSOD.  There's things I don't want to get into the wrong hands, to avoid theft, etc.
• Desktop for videos.
• Game with a trackpad, I think.
• I'm thinking mobile with Intel Atom.  This is tough though.
• Everything off USB external drive.  I have about 24 TB of storage total right now, most of it approaching full.  (I might have a couple TB free or so, although I do have some duplicates I'm sure.)
• 64GB UHS µSD card.  I need capacity more than speed, and UHS is fast enough for 4K video, at least UHS-u3.
• Big bulky rugged case.  I have a tendency of dropkickthrowing things, and I need the durability.
• Outfit with kickass desktops.  Each person's PC would have eight Xeon E7-8890 v4's, 24 TB RAM, two Nvidia Pascal GP100 Tesla GPUs, a Xeon Phi 7250F (or equivalent Nvidia), the rest of the PCI-E slots being occupied by 4TB Intel DC P3608 SSDs, any M.2 ports would have Samsung 960 Pro 1TB SSDs and SATA ports would have Seagate 60TB SSDs (or whoever it was that recently showed their existence).
• In this case, headphones.
• I'm not familiar with Jack Nicholson, nor am I a girl.  
• Never charge via wall outlet.  Hopefully the battery bank has solar panels and a hand crank or something.
• Huge full tower XL ATX that's beautiful.  I need my room for expandability, and my airflow / breathing room.
• For now, user upgradeable laptop.  (I already have one - Clevo P750DM-G.)  I haven't yet seen phone GPUs, CPUs, internal storage, RAM, etc. offered for sale, but I can find SoDIMM RAM, M.2 SSDs, 2.5" HDDs, MXM GPUs, and LGA1151 CPUs.
• Console that played any PC game, maxed out.
• Custom PC that runs Mac OS.
• Loads of really bad PCs.  I'd just replace them all with a single good one.  (And I could still find a use for them for legacy applications and games.)  Although @ShadowTechXTS does have a good point.
• High performance, non-throttling, 100dB PC.  I'll just put it in a sound-isolated server closet.  Having a PC that throttles a lot would, I think, shorten its life eventually from all the stress.  (My dad almost never runs the A/C in the car on max setting, and he often backs off max on other things.  When driving the car, he tries to never let the tach in the '02 Accord exceed 4K, even though redline is at 6K.  When cruising he rarely goes over 2.5K RPM on the freeway.)
• Game on a compute stick, assuming I could get a future one that matches the beast PC in performance.  (I'd like to see the SFF systems catch up to full-blown servers in performance.)  Although once again @ShadowTechXTS seems to have a point.  I suppose I could build a second beast PC for gaming?
• Bike 25km to NCIX.  I need the exercise anyway.  (Although in my case it'd be biking to Fry's.  Newegg or MicroCenter would be okay but those are more like 120-200km away.  NCIX is probably close to 2k km or more from me.)
• Really good mouse.  I'd just not use the pad.
• Single 29" ultrawide monitor.
• Stock and reference coolers on everything, never encountering a failure.
• Real life friends and use split-screen.  I used to do that like 20 years ago anyway.  I miss those days.
• Tough one again.  If there's no shipping/restocking fee, I'd lean toward RMA, but if they're so good they never fail, I'd lean toward never RMA.  @BingoFishy does have an interesting idea.
• Open boxes without tools, provided they're designed to be opened without tools.
• Phone with rubber railings.  I'd think it'd be more durable when it's mistreated.
• Never live to see a real AI.

Personnal dilemma of mine:

Would you rather buy a slightly better product from an evil company or buying a slightly worse product from a nice one?

My laptop (Clevo P750DM-G) and desktop monitor (Dell U2414H) both have a 1920x1080 display, and my phone (LG G4) has a 2560x1440 display.

That's a lot to read but that's basically it. PCs normally are quite dumb and do nothing when they sleep but modern Intel CPUs with Windows 8 or above can be smart.

I'd REALLY like to see PCs be able to survive a sudden power failure in the middle of a task WITHOUT a UPS / battery backup, without losing any in-progress unsaved work.  (Or would that be as difficult as engineering a mechanical hard drive to survive a drop from a high-rise roof onto a sidewalk on its flat side while it's writing to disk at the moment of impact?)

Only be able to build with used components as you can still find recent parts used (looking at you 980ti). Although i play mostly older gamea anyway...
