After thepiratebay and KickAss another bastion has fallen: this time is the turn for torrentz.eu

torrentz started back in 2003 and was a was a free, fast and powerful meta-search engine combining results from dozens of search engines. It is sad to see it going. If you go to the site now all you'll see is this message:

No words on the reasons of the shutdown from the . My wild guess would be fear after the events of KAT, seeing that even a site that doesn't host copyrighted content go can still be persecuted under such claims must have contributed to this decision.

They're starting to encroach on semi-legal sites now with the war on piracy, as it stands I fell like they were within rights to take down this site. As long as they don't go after the clients themselves I don't have a problem with this.

You meant the bit torrent clients themselves, didn't you, like Deluge, μ and so on? Not clients as in users...

If people are using Torrent clients to download pirated material then they're breaking the law. Thus people get punished for it.

I don't think it's due to fear of being arrested or whatever. They host absolutely nothing, it's just a search engine that looks for the movie/song/game you want that are hosted on sites such as KAT, TPB etc... Maybe they can't afford to stay running.

I loved that site until the UK banned pretty much every torrent site it linked, after that I just used a piratebay/kat proxy. Shame really it was such a good website.

I wouldn't worry too much. I don't see all the websites every going. There are simply too many of them and some of them are almost impossible to take down. There are also new websites popping up all the time. We will all just move along. Also private and public trackers are a thing and they will never get taken down because they are too small and don't get enough attention.
