INCREASING TRANSFER SPEED

Hey guys,

i had a spare router at my house , so i made sorta a NAS out of it,(this router isnt connected to the internet so its storage is just available to the devices which connect to it), but i wish to know here on what does the transfer speed (e.g: transferrring file from a pc connected to it to its storage) depend on and how can i increase it!

and if anyone is interested please answer the below question too! Thanks a ton you all in advance!

Transfer speed has several factor. The speed of the drives in your system and how they are setup. The speed of the ports they are connected to, The speed to the ethernet ports and cables, and the (The speed of the drives in your system and how they are setup. The speed of the ports they are connected to) of the other system the files are transfering too.

Are you using a hard dirve connected to the router? if you are connecting both ends via ethernet, the hard drive connector will be the bottleneck.

i5 6600k and GTX 1070 but I play 1600-900. 1440p BABY!

Still, don't put too much faith in my buying decisions. xD

Well then, if your wifi is slow, you can use Ethernet to speed up transfer speed. That is, assuming the usb is fast enough to take advantage of the added speed.

Hey do u think my router might be limiting my hard disk transfer rate like by setting it's own rate?

What speeds are you actually getting? Is the USB port on the router USB 2.0? If so, you're not going to get very good speeds no matter what you do.

Aragorn (WS): 250D | 6800k | 840 Pro 512GB | Intel 530 480GB  | Asus X99-M WS | 64GB DDR4 | Corsair HX720i | GTX 1070 | Corsair H115i | Philips BDM4350UC 43" 3840x2160 IPS

Probably not. If its a wired connection, you aren't gonna get any faster than ethernet. Are you wired internet or wireless?

Then that is probably bottlenecking you. I suggest you use ethernet.
