Windows Automatic Repair after RAM upgrade

hmm, well if worst comes to worse I do have an extra windows 10 key that I'm not currently using, I'd just really like to not do that of course.

 

Also I will add that windows wouldn't even let me in safe mode with all 4 sticks installed.  It just hung at the logo and spinny circle.  I put in a support ticket with gigabyte to see if they have any help.  I might try updating to the latest bios version.

are you running fastboot or quickboot or any of that stuff?  If you are maybe try turning it off.

I am using quick boot, I just disabled it, trying it now.

Disabling fast boot did not have any affect on booting with all 32gb installed, unfortunately.  I still can't get around how much this feels like a windows issue though.  Like booting just slows to a crawl with this ram config for some reason.

It's looking like this is entirely a Windows issue.  Maybe check the event log?

There's a critical error in there, twice in the last hours, which seems like it could be each time in the last hour i've tried booting with all 32gb in there.

 

The error is:

Event ID: 41

Source: Kernal-Power

Log: System

 

EDIT: Although that could be me hard resetting it too I suppose.

Kernel-Power is just a sudden loss of power, like in a power outage or a forced shutdown

So that sounds like a consequence of me hard resetting.

2500k and alike (3700k, 4790k... ) are all dual channel. Only the extreme processors get triple or quad channel memory.

Not all ram is made equal. That is why they create a QVL. However just because your ram is not on the QVL doesn't mean it won't work, just that there's a chance it won't.

Try upping your Vccio volts. you could try upping the VCCSA as well but that may not help much. As you have more sticks of ram you'll need more volts for your IMC.

As you upgraded from 8.1 you won't need a key as long as you don't change hardware. Your key is generated from the components you used during the upgrade and is saved on Windows activation server.

So just format and it will activate once you connect to the internet.

 

Oh also, the higher your CPU overclock the less stable your RAM will become. So do all of this on stock clocks then work your way from there.

I'm not sure upping voltages would help.  My system has posted every single time without issue no matter the ram configuration.  Windows boot seems to hang with all 32gb installed.  It might be worth a try tho.

I know you probably don't remember how you fixed this and chances are you won't see this but I'm having the exact same problem right now any help?
